MIKHAIL KORZHEV, Accompanist

Mikhail KorzhevRussian-born pianist Mikhail Korzhev has concertized extensively throughout the United States and Europe. He is equally active as a solo recitalist, a chamber musician and has appeared as soloist with orchestras to high critical acclaim from American and European press. His interests in contemporary music, and that of Krenek’s, lead him to participate in the 2005 Virginia Waring International Piano Competition, which he won. His prize included a recital in Vienna’s Konzerthaus with the Wiener Zeitung writing, “Korzhev obviously has much affection for Krenek’s personal style…the listener experiences the dramatic qualities of the work.” Following his successful Vienna debut, Korzhev recorded a CD of Krenek’s piano music released by Phoenix Records. He holds a doctorate in piano performance from University of Southern California, where he studied with Daniel Pollack. His previous teachers include Alexander Sats and Vera Khoroshina at the Moscow Conservatory College.
