Christopher Russell

Christopher Russell received his master’s degree in orchestral conducting from Indiana University and his bachelor’s degree in composition from Cal State Fullerton. In addition to his teaching at Cal State Fullerton, he is director of the Instrumental Music Department at Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA). Russell has served on the faculty of many universities including Cal State Long Beach, Biola, Azusa Pacific and Vanguard. As founder and conductor of the OCHSA Symphony Orchestra, he has won first place for four consecutive years (2001-2004) in the ASCAP Awards for Adventurous Programming and recently served on their Adventurous Programming selection panel for orchestras. Russell has worked with acclaimed French composer/ conductor Pierre Boulez. He is a frequent pre-concert lecturer and speaker for the LA Philharmonic and the Philharmonic Society of Orange County.
