University Singers

On Tuesday October 20th Cal State Fullerton University Singers took the stage at the Walt Disney Concert Hall alongside the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and an array of professional vocalists under the baton of Conductor John Mauceri.   The performance, entitled The Walt Disney Symphonic Legacy, featured pieces from The Nightmare Before Christmas, Sleeping Beauty, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Michelle Doolittle, a vocal performance major, soloed in the role of the bird whistle in the Snow White Symphonic Retelling. “I was excited to sing with the choir and nervous about whistling! This is something I will definitely put in my resume. Performing in this venue under conductor Mauceri with the caliber of solo artists certainly increased my performance level.”  Katherine Radakovich who sang the echo to Snow White said:  “The performance opportunities given to students as a result of the efforts made by Dr. Istad are phenomenal. The Music Department at CSUF truly cares about the future of their students.” Andrew Nugyen felt the opportunity to perform in the Symphonic Portrait of the Pirates of the Caribbean increased his level of concentration in rehearsal. “Preparing for such a percussive solo took dedication and focus but it paid off in the confidence I gained as a performer coupled with the support of my director and fellow choir members.”  Following the performance, conductor John Mauceri wrote: “thank you once again for your fantastic work on the Disney concert. Absolutely splendid on all counts!”
