In performance for everything from a UNOCAL corporation annual meeting to the Orange County Performing Arts Center and the Hollywood Bowl's An Evening with Jerry Herman's Broadway, to a Chancellor's Symposium, to the CSU Fullerton President's investiture, the Preeminents is a dazzling musical theatre group in high demand. The Preeminents recently represented the University at a South Coast Plaza celebration of education and at a new celebration of Alumni accomplishments, Vision and Visionaries. The Kaleidoscope Players made national news as the recent recipient of the Saturn Corporation Competition for outstanding student accomplishment. The highly competitive award was bestowed upon the Kaleidoscope Players for showing initiative, creativity and ingenuity while benefiting others. Kaleidoscope Players is CSU Fullerton's touring theatre company currently celebrating sixteen years of providing meaningful dramatic experiences for young audiences throughout Southern California. The much sought after company travels to 70-80 elementary schools and a total audience of over 15,000 students annually. Hailed by teachers, students and theatre critics, themes of past productions include creativity, imagination, building self-esteem, and resisting peer pressure to use drugs, alcohol or to join street gangs. The Department is also involved in High School Theatre Festivals and workshops, alumni events, and professional training workshops. These ongoing events are part of the reason that the Department hosts over 33,000 audience members and visitors in any given year. |
