2009 Summary

Problems Found:

Checkpoint A, alternative text: ALT's for decorative and design elements are not empty, making for messy reading by a screen reader.

Checkpoint B, multimedia equivalents: The embedded videos on the page are not captioned.

Checkpoint C, color: There is not enough contrast in the left-side menu-- See below.

Checkpoint D, styles: The top-row navigation does not work when CSS is disabled or when a user stylesheet is used.

Checkpoint L, scripts:
The top row navigation is not accessible to keyboard users.
The top row navigation does not work when javascript is disabled.
The rotating pictures (and their navigational links) do not work when javascript is disabled.

Checkpoint O, skip links: The page does not have a means to skip navigation links.

Evaluation: Issues discovered in Checkpoint A are easily addressed. More problematic are the issues raised by the failures in Checkpoints B, C, D and L. Color usage, CSS and javascript needs to be analyzed and reconfigured. Templates do not appear to be in use, so the work involved to correct these problems could be extensive. This page also has HTML header issues.
