2009 Summary
Problems Found:
Checkpoint A, text equivalents: Decorative items have unnecessary descriptive ALT's.
Checkpoint D, styles: Navigation is not fully accessible to keyboard users. Navigation in the top bar does not work properly when CSS is disabled; links are delinearized and disassociated from the appropriate headings. Left-side navigation appears at the bottom of the page. Two of the three headings in the green bar at the middle of the page are links that go nowhere.
Checkpoint G, simple tables: Layout tables do not have the "summary=" attribute. (This is a "best practice," not a "failure".)
Checkpoint L, scripts: Top navigation bar does not work when javascript is disabled--there are no links in the top bar.
Checkpoint O, skip links: While there is a skip links link, when CSS is disabled, the page is delinearized and the link appears after much of the navigation.
Evaluation: This page's CSS and navigation may need to be redesigned to include page structure to improve readability and functionality. This page also has HTML header issues.
2007 Summary
Problems Found:
Checkpoint A, text equivalents: The bar in the middle of the page conveys heading information ("News & Events," "Accreditation," and "Transforming Education") but has an empty ALT tag. Combined with the fact that headings are not used, the divisions of the main portion page are not clear
Checkpoint D, styles: Navigation is not accessible to keyboard users. Navigation in the top bar does not work when CSS is disabled. (It does appear at the top of the page on mouseover, but it's not useable). Left-side navigation appears at the bottom of the page.
Checkpoint L, scripts: Navigation does not work when javascript is disabled--there are no links in the top bar and the left-side navigation disappears.
Checkpoint O, skip links: There are no links to skip navigation, and headings, which would aid in navigating the page, are not used.
Evaluation: CSS and scripting needs to be reworked.
