2009 Summary
The Cal State Fullerton home page was redesigned since the last review; the new version was released in the summer of 2009.
Problems Found:
Checkpoint C, color: In the left-hand menu, there is not enough difference in the contrast between the font and background:
- Foreground:#283397 Background:#B3DCF0
- color difference:397/brightness difference:151
- The difference in brightness between the two colors is sufficient. The threshold is 125, and the result of the foreground and background colors is 151.
- The difference in color between the two colors is not sufficient. The threshold is 500, and the result of the foreground and background colors is 397.
Similarly, in the top menu:
- Foreground:#FFFFFF Background:#666666
- color difference:459/brightness difference:153
- The difference in brightness between the two colors is sufficient. The threshold is 125, and the result of the foreground and background colors is 153.
- The difference in color between the two colors is not sufficient. The threshold is 500, and the result of the foreground and background colors is 459.
Similar results were obtained in other type areas. The color issue needs to be revisited.
Evaluation: The number of color issues found may call for a minor redesign. This page also has HTML header issues.

Checkpoint D, styles: Styles are used to simulate headings (news, events and colleges).
Checkpoint G, tables: Table layout disconnects headings for news, events and colleges from their associated links. Summary element is not used in the table headers.
Checkpoint L, scripts: With javascript disabled, the search and portal logon features do not work, although there is an alternative link for the portal feature.
Checkpoint N, forms: ALT's rather than labels are used on the form elements (search and portal log on). While accessible, the label is the preferred method.
Evaluation: The page has several issues. A redesign is in process for a late-June publication date.
