Steering
Committee Notes
The
CMS steering committee continued monthly meetings, chaired by VP
Bob Palmer. At the May meeting, the committee approved the proposed
mission of the CMS Security Committee (to develop campus-wide procedures
for processing security access requests and granting access and
to ensure internal controls for safeguarding data are established)
and submitted names of individuals to serve on that committee. They
discussed CMS communications and recommended continued presentations
to various campus groups and the publishing of Hardcopy Highlights,
a hard-copy summary of the CMS on-line newsletter Project Watch.
Members agreed to ensure Academic Affairs representation at the
Academic Advising Workshop to be conducted by CSULB staff in late
June.
At
the June meeting, the committee reviewed the current project plan
and approved the appointment of the following additional CMS Steering
Committee members, Susan Kachner, Nancy Dority, Harry Norman and
two student representatives. They approved the members for the Finance
Management Team and the Student Administration Management Team.
Amir Dabirian conducted a demonstration of the Self Service functionality
scheduled for release in August.
At
the July meeting, Chair Bob Palmer welcomed new members Nancy Dority,
Susan Kachner and Harry Norman, who represent the Student project
management team. Amir presented three options with corresponding
pros and cons for Student project go live dates. The Student management
team will consult with other campuses regarding their go live experiences
and bring their research and recommendation back to the Steering
Committee. Amir presented issues relative to the academic advising
module versus DARS following which members identified pros and cons
of available options and determined that any decision be made with
care and thorough knowledge of implications. The meeting concluded
with a demonstration of the part-time faculty hiring process.
