SERVICES & RESOURCES

Because they frequently interact with students, faculty and staff are in a direct position to observe and respond to student issues. Initial intervention can have a significant impact on a student’s future well-being .

  • Care Services staff provide guidance to faculty and staff who seek consultation and advice about support services for students in distress and students with concerns.    
    • Consultation with Care Services staff regarding support services, helpful interventions and strategies regarding students in distress.
  • Care Services offers trainings that help faculty and staff recognize the signs of emotional distress, initiate contact with distressed students, offer support and assistance, and discuss options to make appropriate on-campus referrals.

SERVICES FOR FACULTY

  • Guidance and consultation about incidents, behaviors, concerns, and discuss various strategies, interventions and support services that de-escalate students and ease emotional distress.
  • Partner with college and campus departments on education programs that promote a community of care.

REFER A STUDENT IN DISTRESS

Care Services may be needed when students experience distress that hinders them academically, emotionally, behaviorally, or physically. If you have already intervened but the student is still distressed or the worrisome behaviors have persisted, or if you seek consultation on how to respond, please complete a referral and our staff will respond within 2-3 business days .
