Cultural recognition celebrations

How much do the ceremonies cost for graduates and guests to attend?

There is no cost to attend any of the DIRC cultural recognition celebrations for graduate or guests. Graduates who attend the ceremony will receive a free stole or cord to go along with their graduation regalia.

Can I purchase the stole or cord and not attend the ceremony?

No, stoles or cords are not available for purchase at this time.

Who is eligible to participate in the recognition celebrations?

Students who graduated or are graduating in any of the following semesters are eligible to participate in the DIRC cultural recognition celebrations: Fall 2022, Spring 2023, Summer 2023. Registration is open from March 13th, 2023- April 21st, 2023. Once all spots are filled, students will be placed on a waitlist and notified by April 29th, 2023 if they are moved to the registrant list.

Are guests permitted to attend the DIRC recognition celebrations?

Yes, guests are welcome to attend the DIRC recognition celebrations. Please refer to the specific website of the ceremony for guest details.

Where can I park for the ceremonies?

Parking permits are not required on campus during the weekends when the ceremonies are taking place. Please see the specific website of the ceremony you are attending for location of ceremony and the location of the nearest parking structure. What is the attire for graduates?

Each ceremony has a different attire requirement, please visit the specific website of the ceremony you are attending for details.

I am a Masters or Doctoral graduating student; will I be hooded at the cultural recognition ceremonies?

Each ceremony is handling hooding differently, please visit the specific website of the ceremony you are attending for details.

What COVID precautions are being taken at the cultural recognition celebrations?

We are following the State of California and University requirements for events during the Covid-19 pandemic. The organizing committee will communicate any required precautions with graduates and their guests as needed.
