The California Desert Studies Consortium was established in 1976 as an academic collaboration among seven California State University campuses: Dominguez Hills, Fullerton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Northridge, Cal Poly Pomona, and San Bernardino. The Board of Governors is comprised of one faculty member and one administrative member from each campus, at-large members, and a representative from the National Park Service, our federal partner in our cooperative management agreement. The Board of Governors meets formally three times per year.

CSU Fullerton is the administrative campus of the Consortium and oversees the facilities and operations of the DSC through the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
