Peer Mentor Position Description

GOALS
To provide mentors an opportunity to assist students with disabilities. The mentors will be able to foster academic success and encourage campus involvement to students they are mentoring.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Participate in Peer Mentor training retreat (1 day)
- Meet regularly with your mentee twice a month
- Meet one-on-one with the coordinator of the program once a month
- Serve as a role model and reliable resource
- Introduce mentees to on-campus programs, services and activities
- Serve as a liaison between the office of Disability Support Services and your mentee
- One semester commitment
REQUIREMENTS
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Sophomore or above standing
- Familiarity and sensitivity to students with disabilities possible transitional challenges
- Aspiration for student involvement and leadership
- Mentor opportunity open to students with and without disabilities
- One semester commitment
