Each incoming graduate student, in consultation with the graduate advisor, develops a study plan in the first semester. This plan will lay out the courses that are needed for completion of the MS degree. The study plan consists of a minimum of 30 units of adviser-approved upper-division or graduate-level coursework which must be completed with an overall grade-point average of at least 3.0. At least half the units required for the degree must be in approved graduate (500-level) courses. The study plan will be tailored to the student’s background and interests. It will be built on the chosen field of interest.

In addition to these courses, students also need to pass the English writing proficiency exam that is conducted by the university.

Since most of our graduate students have full-time jobs, to give them more flexibility many of our graduate classes start at 7:00 PM and each class meets once per week (Monday to Thursday).
