Advising

Every incoming graduate student is required to meet with the Department Chair to select courses for the first semester. It is encouraged for students to develop their study plan in consultation with their graduate advisors. The study plan must consist of a minimum of 30 units of upper-division or graduate-level coursework approved by the advisor, and must be completed with an overall grade-point average of at least 3.0. Additionally, at least half of the units required for the degree must be in approved graduate (500-level) courses. The study plan will be customized to fit the student's background and interests.
