Undergraduate Technical Electives

The following courses are approved to double-count as undergraduate technical electives and MS core courses in the BS-MS program, saving students time and money by reducing the total number of units needed to complete both degrees:

  • EGEC 447: Introduction to Cyber-Physical Systems Security
  • EGEC 463: Current Topics in Computer Engineering
  • EGEC 520: Advanced Computer Architecture

In some cases, students may choose to complete an undergraduate independent study or academic internship as part of their technical electives. However, these courses cannot be double-counted and may require the student to take additional MS technical electives to fulfill graduate program requirements.

Graduate Technical Electives

BS-MS students can deepen their expertise during the graduate portion of their program by selecting technical electives from advanced Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and Computer Science (CS) courses. Students also have the option to use a graduate independent study as one of their MS technical electives, subject to approval. For details on approved electives and degree requirements, please refer to the program catalog above.
