Judging Information & Judge Responsibilities

The judging panel consists of external industry professionals and ECS faculty members who are committed to being present at the Expo for judging activities from 8:30AM to 11:30AM on Friday, April 26, 2024.

Judges evaluate projects based on criteria such as problem statement clarity, design process, prototype/display quality, creative ability, and overall presentation quality. Please refer to the rubric for the evaluation criteria used in both the preliminary and final rounds of the competition.

Specific Instructions to the Student Participants of the Expo Competition

The final round of the competition is fast approaching, and we're excited to see your projects come to life. Below are specific instructions for student participants to ensure a smooth and successful event:

  1. Setup Time: The competition floor will be open for setup from 7:00 AM until 8:30 AM. Please arrive promptly to set up your projects and posters. Project team numbers have already been pre-assigned, and teams must set up their projects in the pre-assigned locations only.
  2. Dress Code: Student participants are expected to dress in business or business-casual attire. This includes attire such as a dress shirt, slacks or a skirt, and dress shoes.
  3. Competition Judging Time: The judging panel, consisting of external industry professionals and ECS faculty members, will commence judging at exactly 9AM. Judges will visit the teams and conduct interviews at the respective project locations.
  4. Interviews: Be prepared for interviews at your project location. Each project team will be interviewed by a minimum of 3 judges. The judging rubric will be used to evaluate your project based on various criteria.
  5. Duration: The competition will run until 11AM. It's crucial for finalists to be available at their project locations for the entire duration of the competition.
  6. Materials: Ensure you have all the necessary equipment and materials for your interviews. This includes any prototypes, displays, or multimedia presentations.

We wish all finalists the best of luck in the final round of the competition. Your hard work and dedication have brought you this far, and we're excited to see your innovative projects shine at the Expo.
