THE BOOK SALE CENTER enjoyed its best year ever in 2001-02, June Pollak reports. June, as coordinator for the center, hopes to expand the hours of operation for the center, a joint project of the Emeriti with the Patrons of the Library. That could be done with more volunteers to work one or more two-hour shifts on Mondays—either from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, or 1:00 to 3:00, or occasionally on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. Here’s you’re chance to get to campus regularly and to assist in an important effort. Call June at 949-661-0463 to get involved.

LEONARD G. MATHY of CSU-Los Angeles has been named by the CSU-ERFA Executive Committee as the new emeriti senator in the systemwide Academic Senate. That new voting position was approved by the Senate in spring 2002, after many defeats over a 15-year span, and authorized by the CSU Board of Trustees in July. Mathy was instrumental in the organization of both the Cal State L.A. Senate and the statewide body during the 1960s. He will serve one year in this appointment, during which the CSU-ERFA State Council is expected to draw up election procedures to be followed in the future.
