Resignation
An academic employee who does not plan to return the following
year should present a written resignation to the department chair
before April 15. Letters of resignation are routed via the department
chair and the school dean to the office of Faculty Affairs and Records
for appropriate disposition and record keeping. The employee is
responsible for returning university property including keys and
library materials. Also, the employee is responsible for receiving
clearance on equipment charged to him/her. A properly completed
university clearance form is required before the final pay warrant
will be released. The department secretary can provide the appropriate
forms. Arrangements may be made directly with Payroll Services
within 15 calendar days of separation for a refund of retirement
contributions.

Lay-Off
It is the policy of the CSU to protect the employment of tenured,
permanent and probationary employees to the fullest extent possible
consistent with the preservation of a balanced educational program.
Efforts are made to avoid the need for layoff of employees through
proper planning and actions such as reassignments, leaves, retraining
opportunities and voluntary reductions in time worked. For layoff
procedures, refer to the Unit 3 CBA and UPS 210.003.
