If you are Applying to the University

Complete Faculty Fee Waiver Form Obtain signatures of your Department Chair and College Dean verifying your eligibility, and turn it in to Faculty Affairs & Records (FAR), located in McCarthy Hall, Room 128.  The fee waiver form can be accessed online at: http://www.fullerton.edu/far/forms/forms.htm
Apply to the University (online or paper application) If you are applying online, you should indicate that you are paying by check.  Submit your fee waiver to FAR within two (2) weeks of applying online, so that FAR may process the fee waiver and submit it to the Office of Admissions & Records (A&R).  This way, A&R will have your application to attach your fee waiver to.  FAR will e-mail you once it has processed the fee waiver and provided it to A&R and/or Student Financial Services.
Paper Applications Paper applications take many weeks to process.  If you apply using a paper application, then a copy of the approved fee waiver must be attached to the application in order for A&R to process the document.  Therefore, you will need to first submit the completed fee waiver to FAR.  FAR will provide you with a copy of the fee waiver which you can use to attach to your application.
First-time Freshmen A&R closes registration to most first time freshmen majors for fall semester on December 1st.  First time freshmen are not accepted for the spring semester.
Allow Plenty of Time for Application to University Allow plenty of time – at least four (4) weeks - for processing your application and fee waiver prior to registration for classes.  Registration for fall semester is in July and registration for spring semester is in November.  Therefore, make sure you have applied to the University and submitted your fee waiver by at least the end of May, for the fall semester, and by the end of September, for the spring semester.  This will allow for your application materials to be processed in time for you to register for classes.
Fee Waiver – new application fees waived The fee waiver submitted with new applications to the University waives the application fee and the first semester’s registration fees.
Admission Notice Once you are admitted to the University, A&R will mail you an admission notice.  The admission notice will provide you with a student campus e-mail address (different from your work e-mail address, if you work for the University).  Through this e-mail address you will be notified of your appointment time for registration.  You may also check the CSU Fullerton homepage for the range of registration dates for the current academic semester.
Registration Using Titan I After you receive your appointment information for registration, you may register for up to two fee waiver courses or six units, whichever is greater, during each regular academic semester.  If you are registering online through Titan I (in November for spring semester and in July for fall semester), you must pay your fees within three days of registering.  These fees include your Student Body Association Fee, the Student Body Center Fee/Student Union Fee, and the Health Facilities Fee ($1.00 each).
Prepay for Titan II You must prepay to participate in Titan II which allows you to register in January for spring semester and in August for fall semester.  Since students prepay with Titan II, if the waiver has not been processed by January for spring or August for fall, you may need to pay more fees upfront.

Registration without fee waiver

Although it is best to timely process your fee waiver before registering, you may register during your appointment time whether or not your fee waiver has been processed - so don’t wait to register for classes.  It is better to register for your classes and then subsequently seek reimbursement for fees covered by the fee waiver program, than to wait and not be able to get the classes you need.

Reimbursement can take weeks depending upon the method of payment and workload of Student Financial Services.
Accessing Schedule Once you have registered for classes, you can immediately access your schedule of classes online or via phone.

If you are taking Job-Related Courses

Admission Requirements CSU admission requirements do not apply (e.g., official transcripts, etc.).  However, you will need to complete a paper application (page one, the schools attended, and signature on the back of the form).  The paper application must be picked up from Langsdorf Hall 101 or Langsdorf Hall 114.  This application must be submitted directly to the Office of Admissions & Records Application Center (Langsdorf Hall 114) for processing.  This type of admission covers only one semester.  Otherwise, continue to follow the process outlined in “If you are Applying to the University” above.
Nature of Courses Job-related courses relate to your current assignment or your training/retraining that will benefit the campus.

If you are a Continuing Student to the University

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Question:
    I am a Lecturer, am I eligible?

    Response:
Lecturers (Full or Part Time) must have a three year appointment contract in order to be eligible.

  2. Question:
Will my fee waiver application still be processed even if I miss the submission deadline?

    Response:
It is important to meet the deadline because once the form is turned in, then further processing must occur which can take several weeks. Also, when a late request is submitted, it can impact the processing time for those applications submitted on time. However, in rare occasions, your application may be accepted late but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that your paperwork will be processed in time for
registration. Additionally, you may be required to pay fees and then seek reimbursement.

  3. Question:
I submitted my fee waiver late and had to pay the fees out of my pocket. How do I check on the status of my reimbursement?

    Response:
Paying the fees directly does not automatically trigger a reimbursement - you need to specifically request if from Student Financial Services, located in University Hall, Room 180 at extension 2495. Please allow at least two (2) weeks from the date that you pay your fees before requesting reimbursement. Once the request has been made, it can take several weeks to receive reimbursement. Reimbursement will take longer if fees were paid by check than if they were paid by credit card.

  4. Question:
If I am taking CSU fee waiver courses and non-fee waiver courses, what fees do I need to pay for?

    Response:
The State University Fee (in addition to the Application Fee, Identification Card Fee, Instructional Related Activity Fee and Health Services Fee) is waived for the units of courses taken in the CSU fee waiver program. When you or your dependent is taking courses in addition to fee waiver courses, you will need to pay the difference between the part-time State University Fee and the full-time State University Fee. All of the other fees must be paid at the regular rate.

  5. Question:
What fees are waived for faculty taking CSU fee waiver courses?

    Response:
The following fees are fully waived: Application Fee, Indentification Card Fee, Instructional Related Activity Fee and Health Services Fee. The following fees shall be reduced to one dollar ($1.00) each: Student Body Association Fee, Student Union Fee; and Health Facilities Fee.

  6. Question:
Is the faculty fee waiver in effect for summer?

    Response:
Yes. Since summer instruction is now state supported, the fee waiver benefit also applies to summer.

  7. Question:
Can a student registered at another CSU campus enroll in one class at CSU Fullerton using the fee waiver benefit (for example, the home campus does not offer the class that is offered at CSU Fullerton)?

    Response:
Yes. Students enrolled at other campuses of The California State University may enroll at CSU Fullerton while concurrently enrolled at their home campus or as visitors. Information about eligibility requirements, enrollment conditions (e.g., the student must be in good standing and have completed at least 12 units) and application forms are available from the Office of Admissions and Records at the home campus. The student should pick up a visitor enrollment form from his or her home campus and obtain the necessary signatures from the home campus Registrar's Office. The student should then submit the completed visitor enrollment form to the CSU Fullerton Application Center in the Office of Admission & Records (Langsdorf Hall, Room 108), either by mail or in person. The form may be used for only one semester at a time. The student should then submit the fee waiver paperwork to Faculty Affairs & Records (FAR). Once FAR notifies CSU Fullerton's Office of Admissions & Records (A&R) of the fee waiver application, A&R will code the system so that the student can attend CSU Fullerton as a faculty dependent.

After taking the class at CSU Fullerton via a visitor enrollment, the student returns to his or her home school as a continuing student. The transcript showing the work completed at CSU Fullerton will automatically be sent to the student's home campus.

  8. Question:
Do I need to apply for a fee waiver for every semester I am taking classes?

    Response:
Yes. Either your status or your dependent's status may change, so each semester, fee waiver applications must be submitted.

  9. Question:
What is the difference between job-related courses and career development courses?

    Response:
Job-related courses relate to your current faculty assignment or the retraining of a faculty unit employee that will benefit the campus. Follow the process above in the section entitled "If you are taking Job-Related Courses."

Career development courses relate to future career opportunities and assingments within the CSU. Career development courses require that a program of study be established by the faculty member and an appropriate advisor of choice. This program requires a written approval of the appropriate administrator. Normally, CSU admission requirements must be met. See Articles 26.1-26.15 of the Unit 3 Collective Bargaining Agreement at: http://www.calstate.edu/LaborRel/Contracts_HTML/CFA_CONTRACT/article26.shtml for more information.
