2008-2009 Guardian Scholars Program Application

Application materials must be submitted or postmarked on or before November 30, 2008 to be considered for the scholarship. You may hand-deliver your completed application and support materials directly to the Guardian Scholars Office located in the Titan Bookstore, Commons 120, or you may mail your completed application to:

An official high school or community college transcript must be submitted with the Guardian Scholar application materials.

Submit a complete application package including:

• Guardian Scholar application form (pdf)

• Two letters of recommendation (teacher, counselor, social worker, CASA, other)

• An official high school or community college transcript

• Thoughtful response to the essay portion of the application

• Copy of Ward of the Court documentation or a completed copy of the CSU, Fullerton's Dependency Override form

• A list of (5) five school related accomplishments from high school or community college

• EOP Application

Essay Specifications

You should give thoughtful consideration to your essay. The response you provide will be carefully reviewed by the scholarship selection committee to determine which applicants are invited for a personal interview. Essays should be 2-3 typed, double-spaced pages with your name at the top of each page. Your personal description may include such information as your family situation, special interests, group memberships, honors and awards.

Essays should address the following:

• A brief personal description

• The obstacles you overcame in your pursuit of an education

• Why you hope to attend Cal State Fullerton

• Your educational goals at Cal State Fullerton

• What you hope to do after college graduation

The Guardian Scholars Program hopes to make the dream of attending college a reality.

Our commitment to making a difference in your life is possible only if you submit the required applications and materials by the listed due dates. The last two items, the FAFSA and GPA Verification form, can be obtained at most high schools or community colleges. These materials must be filled out and returned to FAFSA prior to the deadline.
