Jean Mallipudi
Jean is the President of SHPA and has been part of the Student Health Professions Association since her start at CSUF. She is a third year Biology Major and is pursuing the medical field. She is currently volunteering as a Critical Care Extender at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood. In her spare time she enjoys graphic designing and reading.

Gina HuangGina Huang is the Vice President of SHPA. She has been at CSUF for three years majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. Gina is in the process of pursing her career in the medical field. She is involved in the clinical care extender program at St. Mary's medical center. Throughtout the years of being a member in SHPA, she has gained valuble information that will help her become a better candidate in pursing her career. As vice president, she ensures SHPA will reach their goal for the SHPA's biannual Red Cross blood drive.

Paul Nguyen
Paul Nguyen is currently the Secretary/Treasurer of SHPA. He is an undergrad majoring in biology with a concentration in Cell and Developmental Biology. He aims for a medical degree with a focus on orthopedic surgery. He is currently volunteering at St. Mary Medical Center and mainly in the Operating Room. The reason for his interest in orthopedic surgery is his love for using tools to build and repair things.

AkramHi everyone! My name is Akram and I’m the Allopathic Medical Chair for the 2011-2012 school year. I’m a sophomore majoring in Biological Sciences, a Clinical Care Extender at Hoag Hospital, and have shadowing experience in both a clinical setting and the operating room.

As the Allopathic Medical Chair, I aim to inform students pursuing the medical field about medical school admissions, residency specialties, and daily life of physicians. I am open to suggestions that will make the medical division of SHPA more invaluable to aspiring physicians. If you have any questions regarding the medical field, feel free to ask me. I am here to help you answer any questions you may have. I look forward to a great year!


Osteopathic Medical Chair: Breanna Connett

Breanna ConnettBreanna Connett is the Osteopathic Medical Chair of SHPA. She is a junior majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and is pursuing a career as an Osteopathic Physician. She is currently conducting research in a Cellular Biology laboratory and searching for various shadowing and volunteer opportunities. She hopes to educate more people on the D.O. profession.

Manny GluckmanMy name is Manny Gluckman and the 2011-2012 school year will be my third year at CSUF as a biology major and my second as the dental chair of SHPA. Aside from my involvement in SHPA, I am a supplemental instruction leader in the biology department on campus, and I try to find as much time as I can to give back to the community. In the future, I hope to attend dental school and then eventually enter into an oral and maxillofacial surgery so I can open my own practice as an oral surgeon.

As the dental chair, I do everything I can to provide our members valuable information regarding a possible future in the field of dentistry. Please don't hesitate to ask me if you have any questions at all regarding dental school and how to make yourself a competitive applicant.

Sana Patel
Sana Patel is the Optometry Chair for SHPA for the 2011-2012 year. She is a senior transfer student who hopes to graduate in the spring of 2013. Her major is Biology in the concentration of Cell and Developmental biology. She plans on applying for optometry school in the next admissions process and is currently shadowing an optometrist who owns a family practice. She hopes to motivate and help her fellow students understand more about Optometry.

Nicole HoangNicole Hoang is the Pharmacy Chair of SHPA. She is an undergraduate majoring in Biology and concentrating in Cell and Developmental Biology. She will be graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree in May, 2012. Nicole is currently in the process of applying to pharmacy schools for the 2012 cycle. She has gained experience in the field by working at CVS Pharmacy as a cashier and by volunteering at an independent pharmacy. Her passion for helping others and appreciation for drug mechanisms motivate her to become a pharmacist and make a positive impact on patients' lives. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, drawing, and writing.

FiorellaFiorella is the Publicity Chair of SHPA. She is currently a Senior majoring in Biology with a concentration in Cell and Developmental Biology along with a minor in Psychology. She has been part of SHPA for three years now and plans on pursuing a career as a Neurologist or Pediatrician. She has helped in the Culture and Nutrition study on campus and whose abstract was presented at the EB2010 Convention. She is a part of the Flying Samaritans and National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She volunteers at St. Mary's Medical Center in Long Beach as part of the CCE program. She has also participated in Camp Titan as a counselor and hopes to do it again this summer.

GurpreetGurpreet, Volunteer Coordinator, is a third year Biochemistry major working in Dr. Srinivasan's research lab. He has been involved in community service since the beginning of his high school life. He is also involved in several other clubs such Student Science Alliance which seek to help other students by providing them guidance in their classes. Currently he is the Chemistry and Biochemistry chair, and tutors for Chem 120A, Phys 211 and Phys 212. Being influenced by family, himself and his environment he is planning to pursue the career in the field of dentistry as an orthodontist. He believes that self-confidence starts with a good smile since that is what people see immediately and makes a lasting impression on others!

Sergio CruzI am The ICC representative; I serve as a line of communication between the natural sciences and mathematics. I really want to go through the Osteopathic Medicine career path. I am a Biochemistry major student at CSUF, and I have been in this club for 2 yrs. I want members to know ask me anything on a range of questions, and even if I do not know the answer I will work hard to point them in the right direction.

Simona Bor, a junior majoring in Biochemistry, has been part of SHPA since the fall semester of 2009 and is the current Fundraising Coordinator. She is a member of Flying Samaritans, an intern in the Clinical Care Extender program at St. Mary's Medical Center, and a 2-year HHMI Scholar in Dr. Meyer's lab. Apart from school, she plays flute and oboe and serves as the pianist at Bethel Romanian Pentecostal Church.

Elise NguyenMy name is Elise Nguyen and I am currently the Program Coordinator for SHPA. I have been a member of SHPA since I started at CSUF two years ago.I am currently a third year student majoring in biochemistry. I am currently hoping to go to medical school and becoming a physician. I currently volunteer at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). I also have applied for the Clinical Care Extender (CCE) program but did not get in but I know the application and interview process.
