Blood Drive Volunteering (help run the drive)

HSAC Sponsored - Volunteers needed to collect sign-ups, help set up, and check people in for the December Blood Drive. Please sign up in the UHSC if you are interested. The Blood Drive will take place in the TSU Pavilion C.

National Honors Collegiate Council Conference:

Is Sustained Peace Possible in the Democratic Republic of Congo?
Jacques Depelchin

Monday, March 21 at 3:30 pm in TSU Alvarado
Jacques Depelchin is an historian from the DRC with wide academic experience in Africa and the United States. He served as an adviser to one of the rebel groups in the recent civil conflict in Congo (RCD-Kissangani) and he is now the Executive Director for the Ota Benga International Alliance for Peace in Congo. His most recent book is Silences in African History: Between the Syndromes of Discovery and Abolition (published in Tanzania and available in the U.S. through Michigan State Univ. Press).

Program is part of the University Honors & Scholars Support Services.

Honors Program Logo Contest

Deadline for submission extended to April 4
Show off your creative side and submit a suggestion for the Honors Program Logo Contest! Deadline to submit is April 4 and the contest is open to all University Honors Program students. The student with the winning logo will receive a $100 gift certificate to Titan Shops and will have her/his work immortalized in the Honors Program. Click here for more details.

Meet Author of Nickel & Dimed: Barbara Ehrenreich

Tuesday, April 12th, 2005 in TSU Pavilions
Reception is at 5 pm and campus presentation at 7:30 pm. Listen to Ms. Ehrenreich speak about her experience living on minimum wage and her active role in the social change. In her book, she described herself as a divorced homemaker and took a series of low wage jobs - waitress, house cleaner, nursing home aide, and Wal-Mart clerk and discussed her experience surviving with the low salary. Ehrenreich attended Reed College and later obtained a Ph.D. in biology from Rockefeller University in New York. Book signing to follow.

Program is part of the University Honors & Scholars Support Services and sponsored by University Advancement, University Honors Program, Student Affairs, Arts Inter Club Council, Women's Resource Center, and Women's Studies.

Nominations for 2004/2005 Outstanding Honors Professor

Deadline April 29
Who will be honored? Does your professor inspire you? Do you think your professor is the best of the best? Then nominate your professor for OUTSTANDING HONORS PROFESSOR. Nominations should include your professor’s name, the nominator’s name (you), course and semester taken, and a brief statement on why s/he should be the 2005 Outstanding Honors Professor. Each complete nomination entry earns you a point and increases your chance in the Honors Spring GET INVOLVED Drawing!

Nominations are due by Friday, April 29 and should be submitted to UHSC, Library North 120, or to Ryan at ralcantara@fullerton.edu.

Student/Faculty Mixer

Monday, May 2 from 11:30 - 1 pm in the Academic Senate Chambers (rear of the Titan Shops)
Get to know the Honors faculty and your fellow honors students. Food and refreshments will be served.

Sophomore Honors Retreat

Friday, May 6 from 1 - 5:00 pm at the Coyote Hills Golf Course
Each spring the sophomore honors students are invited to a half-day retreat to discuss upper-division honors. Faculty members for the various upper-division honors seminars for the next year will present information on their seminars. Also on the agenda is time to discuss the senior honors project and begin brainstorming topics with fellow sophomores.

Senior Honors Projects

May 9 - 20
Over 30 graduating honors seniors will be presenting their work. Topics ranging from neurogeneration to poetry, capturing the diverse interest of the Honors students. Presentation schedule will be available soon.

Honors Year End Picnic

Thursday, May 19 at 2:30 - 5 pm on the Engineering/Health Center Lawn
Join the University Honors Program as we gather to celebrate the end of another year.  The afternoon includes a free BBQ, volleyball and other games, as well as prizes.  There will be a short program at 4 pm to recognize graduates of the Honors Program, new Honors Faculty, and other important members of the honors community.

Honors Convocation

Friday, May 27 at 7 pm in the Titan Student Union Pavilions
A special event honoring award recipients, graduating President’s Scholars, University Honors Program graduates, and summa cum laude honorees. Invitations to graduates will be sent out in April. Cap and gowns are required for participating honorees and faculty and staff. Click here for more information.
