University Honors & Scholars

There's something special for talented, highly motivated students at Cal State Fullerton.

The University Honors & Scholars Center offers a unique, comprehensive program to challenge, motivate and assist outstanding students throughout their college experience. Support is provided in the areas of outreach and recruitment, orientation, program management, and in the coordination of honor societies functions and special university events.

We're proud of the many outstanding students who have chosen to attend our university, and we want them to make the most of the programs and services created just for them.

University Honors Program

The Honors Program provides an academically enriched experience to outstanding students. The honors curriculum includes 24-units of honors course work, much of which meets general education requirements. First-time freshmen and transfer students, who meet the eligibility requirements and have been admitted to the university are welcome to apply. Admission to continuing Cal State Fullerton students is available on a limited basis and is generally feasible for lower division students only. Coordination of Special Events and Student Recognition

In close collaboration with faculty members, the center's staff organizes special events that combine the program's learning goals with opportunities to build friendships and develop skills. Examples may include:

Counseling, Advising and Mentoring

An important goal of the center is to provide essential support services to ensure that our students receive top quality service and timely responses to questions. Our staff members are available for personal and career counseling and referrals. In addition, our center provides academic advisement for students enrolled in the University Honors Program. We also assist in pairing honor students with faculty mentors and researchers. Perhaps one of the most important functions of our staff is to assist students in navigating the administrative structure of the university so they can focus on pursuing their academic goals.

Community Building

To develop a special community of scholars at Cal State Fullerton, we created an environment that is conducive to learning and serves as a "home base"--a meeting and study place where honor students can connect with each other. Students enjoy an attractive, relaxed and functional setting--which offers comfortable couches with data ports for laptop computers, attractive study tables and access to computers linked to the Internet--where they can study independently or in small groups.
