Honor Societies

In an effort to assist our students in seeking out quality honor societies, our center serves as a resource library of information related to university honor societies. Additionally, the director of honors and scholars support services serves as a resource and support person for all honor society faculty advisers and student leaders.

Honor Societies

Council of Honor Societies
The Council seeks to provide a forum for collaboration and coordination among the various local, national and international honor societies at California State University, Fullerton as they seek to promote, advance, and recognize the campus community of scholars and student pursuit of academic excellence. DISCIPLINE-BASED HONOR SOCIETIES
Chapters of eighteen honor societies have been chartered at California State University, Fullerton to recognize students who demonstrate superior scholarship and leadership in specific academic fields.

Alpha Kappa Delta
Promotes social research for the purpose of the improvement of the human condition and recognizes high scholastic achievement among juniors, seniors and sociology graduate students.
Advisor: Alan Emery, ext. 3462, Sociology.

Alpha Phi Sigma
Criminal Justice Honor Society provides students with references for possible careers in the field of criminal justice. Participates in field trips to gain insight into the field.
Advisor: Kevin Meehan, ext. 3655, Political Science/Criminal Justice.

Beta Alpha Psi
Encourages and gives recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the field of accounting.
Advisor: Mohsen Sharifi, ext. 2230, Accounting.

Eta Kappa Nu
Recognizes students in electrical engineering-distinguished by scholarship, activities, leadership and exemplary character-and helps these students progress by association with alumni.
Advisor: Maqsood Chaudhry, ext. 3901, Electrical Engineering.

Eta Sigma Gamma
Health Science/Health Education Honor Society open to all class levels studying in the field of Health Science and Education.
Advisor: Shari McMahan, ext. 7000, Health Science.

Kappa Omega
Open for graduate students interested in the field of counseling.
Advisor: Leah Brew, ext. 2708, Counseling.

Kappa Omicon Nu
Open for sophomores/juniors/seniors/graduate students interested in the field of Kinesiology.
Advisor: Karen Perrell, ext. 4384, Kinesiology.

Lambda Alpha
National anthropology honor society open to both graduate and undergraduate students that encourages and stimulates superior scholarship and professionalism among students in the field of anthropology.
Advisor: Barbara Erickson, ext. 5697, Anthropology.

Mu Phi Epsilon
Promotes high standards in education and performance in the professional world of music.
Advisor: Cynthia Ellis, ext. 3282, Music

Phi Alpha Theta
Recognizes and encourages excellence in the study of history.
Advisor: Jochen Burgtorf, ext. 3560, History.

Pi Alpha Alpha
Recognizes high academic achievement in the study of Public Administration.
Advisor: Shelly Arsneault, ext. 2456, Public Administration.

Pi Sigma Alpha
Recognizes and encourages productive scholarship in the subject of government among junior, senior and graduate students.
Advisor: Stephen Stambough, ext. 2933, Political Science.

Psi Chi Honor Society
Advances and maintains scholarship in the science of psychology.
Advisor: Kristin Beals, ext. 3136, Psychology.

Sigma Delta Pi
Recognizes high academic achievement in the study of the Spanish language, the literature and culture of Hispanic nations, and other college-level subjects.  Committed to academic excellence in the discipline of Spanish and to the aid of the Hispanic community.
Advisor: Pilar Valero-Costa, ext. 5205, Modern Language and Literature.

Sigma Phi Omega
Promotes scholarship, professionalism, friendship, and services to older persons, and recognizes exemplary attainment in gerontology/aging studies and related fields.
Advisor: Joseph Weber, ext. 7043, Gerontology.

Sigma Tau Delta
Confers distinction for high achievement in undergraduate, graduate and professional studies in English language and literature. The aim of Sigma Tau Delta is to promote a mastery of written expression, to encourage worthwhile reading, and to foster a spirit of good fellowship among students of the English language and literature.

Sigma Theta Tau
CSUF Nursing Honors Society open to the top 35% of senior BSN and MSN students in nursing.
Advisor: Marcia Orr, ext. 4409, Nursing.

Tau Beta Pi
Promotes and encourages scholastic excellence and service among the top eighth of junior and the top fifth of senior students in all engineering disciplines.
Advisor: Maqsood Chaudhry, ext. 3901, Electrical Engineering.

SPECIAL INTEREST HONOR SOCIETIES
The following six societies also recognize specialized groups of individuals or areas of interest, but are not limited to a specific academic field: 

Golden Key International Honour Society
Promotes and recognizes scholastic excellence and service among juniors and seniors at CSUF.

National Society of Collegiate Scholars
Recognizes scholastic and leadership excellence of freshmen and sophomores.

Order of Omega National Honor Society
Promotes and recognizes scholastic excellence, leadership and service for CSUF fraternity and sorority members with a junior or senior standing.

Phi Beta Delta
Honors excellence among international students, distinguishes faculty who have studied or done research abroad, and American students who have studied abroad.

Recognizes and encourages superior scholarship in all academic disciplines in institutions of higher learning.
