Spring 2018 Check-Out Guide

Any resident who is not living in Student Housing for the summer or has not been granted an extension due to participation in Commencement must vacate their assigned space by 10 p.m. on Friday, May 18.

Due to university commencement ceremony schedules, residents are encouraged to check out before 3 p.m. on Friday, May 18 to avoid heavy traffic on and off campus. Vehicles entering campus for housing check-out should use Associated Road via Yorba Linda to enter and exit campus.

Each semester beginning at 5 p.m. on the last Friday of classes through 5 p.m. on the Saturday of finals week, a 24‐Hour Quiet Hour policy is in effect.

Food Service Hours of Operation during Finals Week:

Gastronome: 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Daily

Late Night Café:

  • 8 p.m. – 1 a.m. Daily
  • Friday, May 18: Closed

Community Market:

  • Monday, May 14 – Thursday, May 17: 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 a.m.
  • Friday, May 18: 7:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
TIP: Your Declining Balance will be active until Friday, May 18 at 8 p.m.

standard check-out procedure

All residents are required to schedule a check-out time with their Resident Advisor. Check-out appointments will be available beginning Monday, May 14 through Friday, May 18 at 10 p.m.

All of your belongings must be removed from your room prior to check-out and the common space (apartments only) should be cleaned. During the check-out process you will complete a Room Condition Report and turn in all of your keys. You will be emailed a copy of the RCR as proof of your check-out process.

If you intend to check-out before May 14, contact your Resident Advisor to schedule a check-out appointment.
Residents are encouraged to leave within 24 hours of their last final.

TIP: Do not remove or throw away the small black trashcan and/or toilet plunger found in your living space – you will be charged if these items are missing upon check-out.

Any items left in your space after you have completed your check-out appointment will be deemed abandoned and a fee ($120) will be assessed for improper check-out. Failure to return metal keys will result in a $50/key fee.

Overnight Check-Out Procedure

If you intend to check-out between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., Monday, May 14 – Friday, May 18, you will need to notify your Resident Advisor that you would like to complete an overnight check-out. Your RA will provide the necessary forms to complete this process. Should you choose to complete an overnight check-out, you waive your right to complete the Room Condition Report and appeal any fees charged for damage to your living space.

Request for Late Check-Out

If you are a graduating senior or an official participant in commencement, you may request to stay in your room beyond Friday, May 18, 2018. All late requests must be submitted by Monday, May 14, 2018 at 8 a.m. A check-out time will be communicated to you upon approval of your request.  The Late Check-Out Request form can be found by visiting:  http://www.fullerton.edu/housing/resources/LateCheckOutRequestForm.php

Improper Check-Out

A minimum fee of $120 will be assessed for an Improper Check-out subject to additional charges for cleaning and damage to the living space.

Cleaning and Moving Supplies

A limited number of large bins and vacuums will be available for check-out Monday, May 14 - Sunday, May 20.

Monday, May 14 – Friday, May 18: Available for check-out from the large tent in the Piazza from 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.

Saturday, May 19 – Sunday, May 20: Available for check-out from the large tent in the Piazza from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Mail Forwarding

All residents should update the mailing address in their Student Portal as soon as possible. Please note: we do not forward to international addresses.

Dumpsters and Goodwill Donation Bins

Goodwill donation bins will be available for residents Friday, May 11 – Sunday, May 20.

Donate unwanted clothing, housewares, e-waste etc. and help create jobs in Orange County.  Bins will be located on the first floor of each Residence Hall and Single Apartment Building in addition to the Cypress lobby (during the day) and Cypress MPR (in the evening).

Please do not remove items from the donation bins as this is considered theft.

Non-Perishable Food donation bins will be available to residents Friday, May 11 – Sunday, May 20.

If you have waste that needs to be disposed of that is not eligible for donation to Goodwill, additional trash receptacles will be located throughout the Housing community from Thursday, May 10 – Sunday, May 20.

MicroFridge Return

Any resident who has rented a MicroFridge is instructed to leave the unit in their assigned room. All units will be picked up the week of May 21 – residents do not need to be present for pick-up.

To avoid a $30 cleaning fee, units must be:

  1. Left Inside your Room: If you have moved or transferred the fridge to another room, please notify Collegiate Concepts. If the MicroFridge cannot be found, you will be billed for a replacement unit.
  2. Fully Defrosted: Unplug the unit the night before. Do not use any sharp objects to defrost the unit.
    Tip the unit back to collect water so as to not spill on to the carpet.
  3. Completely Clean and Dry: This includes seals and inside/outside surfaces of the refrigerator, freezer and microwave. There will be a $30 charge assessed by Collegiate Concepts if not cleaned.
  4. Returned with all parts: Ice cube trays and ice scraper, top shelf and bottom shelf, microwave plate and ring. There will be additional charges for missing parts.
  5. Please leave refridgerator and freezer doors open.

Spectrum Cable Boxes

All residents who have contracted with Spectrum Cable need to make arrangements to return their cable boxes directly to Spectrum Cable – boxes should not be left inside your residence hall room or apartment living room. Housing and Residential Engagement is not responsible for the return of cable boxes.

Housing tip: You will not have access to your room once you have checked out. It is your responsibility to ensure your cable box is returned or taken with you prior to check-out.

Parking and Loading Zones

All resident permits will be valid in all student lots with no restrictions Monday, May 14 – Friday, May 18. No cars should be parked in the Eastside, Nutwood and State College parking structures overnight.

Loading zones will be available Monday, May 14 – Sunday, May 20 in the Residence Hall parking lot.  Each loading zone space is available for 1 HOUR and will be enforced 24 hours a day through Sunday, May 20.
