Application Process
When
should I start looking into housing options?
We urge you to begin looking into on campus housing options the moment you think you want to attend CSUF. Students that are admitted can apply via an online application. Students have different application dates dependant on their admissions and current housing status. Make sure you are looking at the option and dates that pertains to you. The application timelines are as follows:
Continuing Residents-Priority Registration: November 28 – December 9, 2011
This application period is for students who are currently residing in student housing and are interested in returning to housing for 2012-2013 school year. Should you miss this deadline you will apply under the Current Student application period. See below.
Current Student: February 6 – February 17
This application period is for all students currently taking classes at CSUF. It applies to students who do not currently live in student housing as well as those residents who missed the priority application period.
Newly Admitted Students: March 1 – March 22 for first priority
This application period is for all newly admitted students to CSU Fullerton for Fall of 2012. Anyone missing the above deadline can be added to the Housing waitlist beginning on March 23, 2012.
Do
I have to be admitted to CSUF to apply for housing?
Yes.
Is
there an application fee?
No, the application process is free.
Do
I have to send a deposit with my housing contract/license?
Yes. When you are offered a contract, you will be required to send in a deposit of $350 to reserve your space. Of this initial payment, $100 will be a security deposit; the remaining $250 will be applied to your overall housing fees. The $350 payment is due with your license agreement.
Are freshmen guaranteed housing?
Spaces are limited, so we CANNOT guarantee housing to all freshmen. However our newest phase of Housing that opened this past fall is designated specifically for freshmen and has capacity for of 1016 spaces. If you receive a license agreement packet, that is your offer of housing. Please return all required materials by the specified due dates in your packet.
When
will I know if I have housing?
Continuing students will receive their license agreement packets beginning February 27 and extending through March 2, 2012. These completed packets are due back on March 16 with the $350 initial payment.
All new students will receive their offer beginning on April 9, 2012. Due to the large number of applicants, not all students who are interested in housing may receive an offer.

When
should I turn in my License Agreement?
Once you receive your housing license offer, you must return all required materials by the deadline. Failure to meet all deadlines as indicated with your license offer will result in the losing your space and going to the bottom of the waitlist.
How much does it cost to live in the residence halls? Housing rates for 2012-2013 have not yet been finalized. Please see the Fees & Applying link for the current year's pricing.
Do I have to pay for it all at once or in installments?
You may pay all at once, or you can break up your fees into installments. Details will be included in your contract packet. Your initial payment of $350.00 which is due when you submit your license agreement, must be paid from your personal funds because Financial Aid is not available until the beginning of the academic year.
Will
I receive bills in the mail for my housing payments?
No. It is the resident’s responsibility to ensure that payments are made on or before the due dates listed in the contract.
Can
I cancel my License Agreement before I move in?
You may cancel your contract by giving written notice to the housing office at least 30 days prior to the beginning of the occupancy period. For 2012-13, petitions must be received by July 22, 2012. If you petition to cancel with less than 30 days notice or after the beginning of the occupancy period, you must meet the criteria outlined in the Terms and Conditions of the Housing License Agreement in order to be considered for license termination. Terminations after the start of the license period are made at the sole discretion of Housing and Residence Life.

How many people live in the apartments/residence halls?
Double Apartments: Six people reside in the three-bedroom apartments -- two per bedroom.
Single Apartments: Four people occupy the four-bedroom apartments -- one per bedroom.
Residence Halls: Double occupancy (two per room) with community bathrooms.

How can I get a single bedroom?
Priority for the apartments is given to the sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. This space is provided based on request, application priority and availability.
Are
the apartments co-ed?
No. The apartments are single-sex, although the floors are co-ed.
May
I request to live with a specific roommate?
When you receive your License Agreement, you'll also receive a roommate request/selection card. You may use the card to request a person (of your same gender) to be your roommate. That person must also request to live with you, or else you most likely won't be placed together.
What
if I don't know who I want to live with? How will you select
my roommate and apartmentmates?
Answer the questions on the roommate request/selection card and list your interests, hobbies and needs. If you know the kinds of characteristics you'd like a roommate to have, list them, too. We will try to match you with people of similar interests; however we cannot guarantee a perfect match.
When
will I find out which room I'm in and who my roommate and apartmentmates
are?
Information regarding you room assignment and your roommates will be available in August.
When
do I move in?
Residents for 2012-2013 will move in on August 22.
Life
in the Halls
Is
there a meal plan?
Yes, all residents of student housing will have a meal plan. Meal plans and rates are currently under negotiation and will be published prior to your contract due date.
Do
I need a special parking permit?
No, all students use the same university parking decal, which is good for any student parking lot.
Can
I have overnight guests?
Yes you may have overnight guests. They may not stay more than two nights during a two-week period without approval from the housing office.
Is
alcohol allowed in the residence halls?
Students who are at least 21 years old may drink in the privacy of their own suite as long as everyone in the suite is 21 years old or older.
Is
smoking allowed?
You may only smoke outside. Smoking is prohibited inside any university facility -- including your suite. You may smoke outside the facilities, but you must be at least 25 feet away from the facility.
Can
I have a pet?
Fish are permitted in bowls or aquariums that hold no more than 5 gallons of water. No other pet, animal, bird, snake, mouse, etc. is allowed. FISH ONLY.
Who
cleans up the rooms?
Students are responsible for cleaning their own apartments and bedrooms. All public areas are cleaned by the university staff. Phase III students will have their communal bathrooms cleaned by university staff on a daily basis excluding weekends, holidays and other days when the university is closed.
Who
takes care of maintenance and repairs?
All maintenance and repairs in suites and public areas are to be handled by the maintenance staff. You should report all problems on a Maintenance Request Form available at the housing office. Most requests are handled within 48 hours of receipt of the request by our maintenance staff. If the problem cannot be fixed immediately, you will be notified as to the status of the repair.
