Amount: $500. Established by: This scholarship was established by the School of Risk Management and Insurance for the benefit of students with a passion for risk management and insurance. Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing math or business students who are pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Criteria: 3.0 GPA or higher ♦ Be enrolled in (or have completed) one or more of the following classes: Fin 335, 360, 361, 375, 408, 409, 410, 444, 461, 462, 463, 464, 560, or 562; MATH 390/ FIN 415 Actuary Workshop ♦ Be enrolled in at least 6 units in the semester in which you are applying for this scholarship. Applied Math Scholarship in Honor of Lila B. and Major Theodore Hromadka

The scholarship was established by Dr. Theodore Hromadka in honor of his parents to recognize the best first-year graduate student in the Applied Graduate Program. Russell V. and Betty L. Benson Scholarship for Undergraduate Mathematics Students

Amount: $6,000 (if two students chosen, $3,000 each) Established By: This endowed scholarship is funded by the Dr. Russell V. Benson and Betty L. Benson Endowment Fund for Undergraduate Mathematics Students. Open To: This endowed scholarship is open to CSU Fullerton junior or senior undergraduate mathematics majors who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 in his or her current degree program, and who are citizens of the USA. Russell V. and Betty L. Benson Scholarship for Graduate Mathematics Students

Amount: $6,000 (if two students chosen, $3,000 each) Established By: This endowed scholarship is funded by the Dr. Russell V. Benson and Betty L. Benson Endowment Fund for Graduate Mathematics Students. Open To: This endowed scholarship is open to CSU Fullerton graduate students who will be pursuing a Masters degree in the Department of Mathematics at CSUF during the 2023-2024 academic year. Recipient must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 in his or her current degree program and be a citizen of the USA. Amount: $1,000 Established by: This scholarship was established by Martin and Nancy Bonsangue to assist students majoring in mathematics who are the first in their family to complete a bachelor's or master's degree. Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing students who are pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree in mathematics. Cheryl and Carl Carrera Mathematics Scholarship

Amount: $1000 Established by: This endowed scholarship was established and is funded by mathematics’ alumna Dr. Cheryl Carrera and her husband Carl Carrera. It is awarded to a student who is majoring in mathematics and faces unique personal and/or academic challenges. Open to: Returning or continuing students majoring in mathematics. Graduating students who will be entering either the mathematics credential program, or one of the master’s degree program offered by the mathematics department at CSUF are also eligible to apply. Criteria: Mathematics major in good standing ♦ 2.0 or greater GPA in mathematics courses. Farnham Family Endowed Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 Established by: This scholarship was established by Paul and Dena Farnham to help students pursuing a graduate degree in either the Teaching or Applied option and who are also currently teaching or have taught at the secondary school level. Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing students pursuing a graduate degree in the Teaching or Applied mathematics programs, who are currently or previously taught at the secondary school level. Criteria: Must be enrolled in Masters in Teaching or Masters in Applied Mathematics degree program in Department of Mathematics at CSUF for 2022-2023 ♦ Must be currently teaching or previously taught at the secondary school level. Amount: $500 Established by: This scholarship was established by the family and friends of Dr. Gannon to assist students who are or are planning to become secondary or community college teachers of mathematics. The Kathryn Godshalk Memorial Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 Established by: This scholarship was established by the family of Mrs. Kathryn Godshalk to recognize distinction in mathematical study and to provide financial assistance. Open to: This scholarship is open to second year graduate students in either the MA in Teaching Mathematics or MS in Computational Applied Mathematics programs who plan on becoming a math teacher. Amount: $1,500 (2 awards) Established by Dr. Maijian Qian and Bob Houghton to recognize distinction in mathematics study and to provide financial assistance. Lawrence Weill Applied Mathematics Scholarship

Amount: $1,000 Established by: This scholarship was established by family and friends in memory of Dr. Lawrence Weill, professor of applied mathematics. Dr. Weill was a professor at CSUF from 1980 to his retirement in 2001. Dr. Weill was also active in research and author of books related to Global Positioning Systems (GPS). Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing students who are pursuing a degree in Applied Mathematics. The Rose Klein Award

Amount: $125 Established by: This scholarship is by nomination only. It was established in memory of Rose Klein to recognize academic achievement in the study of mathematics and to honor students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance in completion of the course, Algebra and Probability for the Secondary Teacher, MATH 401. Nominations are made by faculty in the Department of Mathematics. Open to: Nomination is open to students enrolled in Cal State Fullerton’s course, MATH 401, in the current academic year. The Stiel Prize for Excellence in Mathematics

Amount: $1,000 Established by: This endowed scholarship is by nomination only. This scholarship was established by Dr. Edsel Stiel and Mrs. Laurie Stiel to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated a strong interest and ability in mathematics. Open to: This scholarship is open to undergraduate mathematics students. Criteria: Must have demonstrated strong interest and ability in mathematics as evidenced by: 1) A high level of performance in advanced math courses and, 2) A record of accomplishments outside of courses, including activities such as: a) participation in a REU or other research program, b) presentations of research at regional or national meetings, c) submission of research or problem solutions to mathematics journals, and/or d) a high level of performance in mathematical competitions. Santa Ana/Cal State Fullerton Mathematics Scholarship

Amount: $300 (two scholarships) Established by: This scholarship was initiated with a $4,000 donation from Dr. Pagni in 1995 to support students from Santa Ana High Schools who enroll at Cal State Fullerton as Mathematics majors. The amount has been augmented by donations from other educators and businesses. Each year, Dr. Pagni joins Mayor Miguel Pulido of Santa Ana in presenting this scholarship to two new recipients. Open to: This scholarship is open to all Santa Ana Unified School District high school seniors who are planning to attend CSUF to pursue a math degree and teaching credential; Santa Ana high school graduates who are currently enrolled at CSUF as math majors and are planning on pursuing a teaching credential; or current Math majors who graduated from a Santa Ana Unified School District high school. CSUF Research and Instructional Safety Scholarship

This scholarship was established by three staff members from the CSUF Research and Instructional Safety Office (RISO): Sue Fisher - Director (retired), Skip Hines - Chemical Hygiene Officer (retired), and in memory of Irene Duncan - Secretary. Open to: This scholarship is open to sophomore (30-59 units) or junior (60-89 units) students who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in the Mathematics Department and have financial need. Criteria: Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need.
