VIETNAMESE BOOK WRITING CONTEST #3, 2022 WAS HELD ONLINE WITH PROCTORS

The National Resource Center for Asian Languages (NRCAL) promotes Vietnamese Literacy Development. Nurturing the love for the Vietnamese language in children not only helps intergenerational communications in families, but it also develops self-confidence in children and affirms their cultural identity and biliteracy. Awarded texts will be published and made available as resources to the PreK-12 Vietnamese language programs across the U.S.

In partnership with Nailing It For America and The Wall POV Project, NRCAL will be hosting a virtual Vietnamese Children Book Writing Contest.

There will be 3 prizes per age group ($150,$100,$50) (Total of 12 prizes).
Age groups: 5-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18

This year the contest is held online on May 7, 2022 from 10:30am - 11:30am (Pacific Time). There will be proctors to help with the process. Children will type or hand-write and upload the picture of the hand-written paper into a link shared at the zoom meeting.

Please note:
On the day of the event, each participant will need a Gmail email account in order to open the form to type or to upload a picture of his/her hand-written book. If you do not have a Gmail account, please create one and return to this form to register.

Trung Tâm Tài Liệu Quốc Gia Về Ngôn Ngữ Châu Á (NRCAL) ủng hộ những dự án nâng cao trình độ giảng dạy và học tập Việt ngữ ở hải ngoại. Khuyến khích lòng yêu mến tiếng Việt của các em không những giúp cho sự giao tiếp trong gia đình giữa những thế hệ khác nhau mà còn phát triển sự tự tin, khả năng song ngữ và bản sắc văn hoá của các em. Những cuốn sách được giải sẽ được minh hoạ và phát hành, là một tài liệu quý báu cho những chương trình song ngữ và Việt ngữ ở nước Mỹ.

Vởi sự tài trợ của Nailing It For America và sự cộng tác củaThe Wall POV Project, trung tâm NRCAL sẽ tổ chức cuộc thi viết sách thiếu nhi trên mạng.

Giải thưởng của từng lứa tuổi ($150, $100, $50). (Tất cả là 12 giải thưởng).
Lứa tuổi: 5-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18

Năm nay, kỳ thi viết sách sẽ được tổ chức trên mạng vào ngày 7 tháng 5 năm 2022 từ 10:30 giờ sáng đến 11:30 giờ sáng (giờ California). Cuộc thi sẽ có giám thị trông các thí sinh. Các em sẽ đánh máy hoặc viết tay và cho lên một trang trên mạng. Trang ấy sẽ được chia sẻ với các em vào buổi thi.

Xin lưu ý:
Vào ngày dự thi, các thí sinh sẽ cần email của Google (Gmail) để có thể mở bài để gõ hay tải lên hình của bài mình đã viết bằng tay. Nếu quý vị chưa có, xin tạo ra một tài khoản Gmail rồi trở lại ghi danh sau.

1. How has Anti-Asian racism and discrimination affected you as Vietnamese American?
2. What does it mean to you to grow up as Vietnamese American?
3. What challenges and opportunities do you experience as Vietnamese American?
4. What hopes, dreams, aspirations, and identity do you have as Vietnamese American?

(We welcome entries from other Vietnamese diaspora.)

Người Việt lớn lên ở hải ngoại:
1. Các hành vi bạo động và kỳ thị đối với người Á Châu tại hải ngoại có ảnh hưởng gì đến ý nghĩ, cảm xúc và hành động của em không?
2. Trải nghiệm của em, một người Việt lớn lên ở hải ngoại.
3. Những cơ hội và những khó khăn trong đời sống của em, một người Việt lớn lên ở hài ngoại.
4. Những hy vọng, ước mơ, khát vọng và đặc tính của em, một người Việt ở hải ngoại.

Age Groups

The age groupings are 5-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18.

Judges

There are 8 judges from the public and community's language schools, universities, and relevant community organizations.

Deadline to Register

The deadline to register is on March 12, 2022 at midnight.

Prizes

There will be 3 prizes per age group ($150-$100-$50). Their text will be illustrated then published.

If you are a teacher registering students, please enter a PARENT'S EMAIL and phone number.
