Transfer Student Orientation

 

Step 1: choose your orientation style

Orientation is a required component for all incoming students. You may choose to complete orientation in-person OR online. The fee for orientation regardless of option selected is $100. You must complete ONE of the options to satisfy the orientation requirement prior to starting the Spring semester.

Option 1: In-Person Orientation

  • You may choose one of the four session dates:
    • Monday, January 8
    • Tuesday, January 9
    • Thursday, January 11
    • Friday, January 12
  • In-person orientation will include a catered breakfast, campus tour, various campus resource presentations, and a resource fair.
  • In-person orientation registration is available through your portal from November 1 - January 2 or until capacity is reached.
  • Time: 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
  • Cost: $100

Option 2: Online Orientation

  • The online orientation module is a 45-minute interactive experience that includes information about campus resources, ways to get involved at CSUF, your academic college, and academic advising.
  • Time: You will be able to complete online orientation at your own pace. Online orientation will close Monday, January 22, 2024.
  • Cost: $100
  • If you register for online orientation, please note that it may take up to 48 hourse for your online orienation materials to be emailed to your CSUF email.

Step 2: Register and pay for orientation

  1. Visit the CSUF Student Portal login page.
  2. Log in using your username and password.
  3. Navigate to the Student Homepage.
  4. Click on the Admissions tile.
  5. Click on the Orientation tab on the menu on the far-left side.
  6. Select either the in-person orientation option OR the online orientation module option (in-person orientation registration is only available from November 1 - January 22 or until capacity is reached).
  7. Click "Pay Now" at the bottom of the page to pay the orientation fee (if the button is grayed out, please check your pop-up blockers and maker sure they are turned off).

How to prepare for orientation

In-person Orientation:

  1. Check your CSUF email and personal email accounts on a regular basis.
    • If you need support in logging into your CSUF email or portal, contact IT here.
  2. Check your Holds and Task List in your student portal.
  3. Heads up! You will need to purchase a daily parking permit ($10) via the ParkMobile app or the ParkMobile website.
  4. To prepare to receive your TitanCard, click here. After orientation ends, you may have time to get your TitanCard from Pollak Library.
  5. Parents, guests, and guardians are not allowed to attend orientation. To learn how to get involved as a parent or family member, please click here.

Online Orientation:

MAjor advising and course registration

 

Major advising is facilitated through the academic colleges, not through orientation. Select your college below. Academic advising is not course registration. Check your student homepage for your assigned time.
