It is important to prepare before attending Transfer Student Orientation (TSO), to ensure that you get the most out of your TSO experience.
Attend WELCOME to Cal State Fullerton Day
Join us for a free campus-wide event designed to introduce prospective students and their families to the Cal State Fullerton Campus. This wonderful day provides students and their families with the opportunity to meet our faculty, learn about our student services, and tour our campus. Click here for more information and to register.
Portal & E-mail
Before attending orientation, all students will need to set up their Student Portal and campus e-mail account. Once you set up your accounts it is critical that you begin checking both your Portal and Campus email regularly for important messages that will be posted on an ongoing basis. Email is the primary way the campus will communicate with you from now on. If you need assistance setting up your campus e-mail, feel free to watch the web-tutorial.
Depending on your major, you may need to take the Math Qualifying Exam (MQE) and the Chemistry Placement Exam (CPE). You can learn more about Placement Tests here.
Check your “Holds”
It is vital that you check your negative service indicators, or ‘holds,’ before attending your New Student Orientation. To check your service indicators, follow the steps below:
- Log into your Portal
- Click on Titan Online
- Click on your Student Center
- Under the Holds box you should see the “Transfer Student Orientation” hold – do not worry, all incoming transfer students will have that hold, which will be taken care of at Transfer Student Orientation (or 24 hours after completing the Online Transfer Overview).
Note: Some students may also see “Financial Aid – Good News!” listed here. This is simply an informational hold indicating the student has pending financial aid.
- If you have any additional holds listed, click Details at the bottom of the Holds box.
- From this page, you can click each hold to see detailed information, including appropriate contact information and any action you may need to take in order to release the hold.
Preparing for Academic Advisement
You are encouraged to preview the pre-advisement tutorial before you attend your New Student Orientation session. This is a 20 minute pod-cast that will help you better understand General Education at Cal State Fullerton.
Print your Titan Degree Audit
We encourage you to print and read your Titan Degree Audit (TDA). This is the primary advising tool that you will use at New Student Orientation, and for the rest of your time at CSUF.
Not Anymore: Protecting Our Campus Community from Sexual Harassment and Interpersonal Violence
CSUF wants to make sure you know how to recognize violence, know the options for reporting violence, the resources available to students who experience violence, and ways our campus works to prevent and raise awareness of violence. In an effort to provide all Titans with information on how to stay safe, all incoming students are required to complete Not Anymore. Not Anymore is a series of videos about how you can prevent and respond to interpersonal violence, including sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. This training is part of a campaign under "Title IX", a federal regulation that prohibits discrimination and harassment based on sex and gender on our campus.
Not Anymore is a required of all students and must be completed before you attend NSO. You can access Not Anymorethrough your Orientation Registration on Titan Online.
Failure to complete this training prior to NSO may result in the placement of a registration hold. It's on all of us as Titans to intervene to stop discrimination, harassment and violence from occurring.
