2020-21 Employment Opportunities

CSUF Center For Educational Partnerships (CFEP) is seeking energetic, qualified candidates to join our team of Cal State Fullerton student workers for the 2020-21 academic year. Educational Partnerships is home to several programs designed to increase college readiness, enrollment, and success for pre-college students in neighboring communities. While most of our positions are year-long (August—May), we also have many opportunities for engaging and experiential professional development during the summer.  Every position provides diverse opportunities for learning, community engagement, and professional growth. Eligibility for the opportunities listed on this page is limited to CSUF students who will be enrolled in CSUF coursework during their employment with us.  Compensation range for all positions is $13 - $16 per hour.  Eligible students may apply hereOpens in new window .

Open Positions

Academic Tutor

Responsibilities

  •  Conduct structured small group and one-on-one tutoring sessions in assigned subjects (e.g., mathematics, science, reading, and/or writing). 
  •  Facilitate learning as a guide and coach to assist the student to become a successful, independent learner. 
  • Integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student’s potential for academic progress. 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with Site Coordinator(s) regarding the issues of referring students to other appropriate high school resources. 
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of daily contacts and activities with students. 
  • Attend staff meetings and staff development sessions (including various mandatory training sessions).
  • Other duties as assigned 

 Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA in college-level coursework. 
  • If hired to tutor students in a specific subject: Minimum 2.75 GPA in college-level coursework related to target subject; if no college- level coursework related to target subject, minimum 3.0 GPA in high school coursework related to target subject. 
  • Ability to tutor students in assigned subjects (e.g., mathematics, science, reading and writing); major in tutoring subject preferred. 
  • Be sensitive to students of diverse ethnic, racial, and economic backgrounds.
  • Possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Possess good organizational skills. 
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative.
  • Must be available to work a minimum of four continuous hours, twice a week. 
  • Have reliable transportation to/from assigned school site(s) and CSUF.
  • Federal Work-Study preferred, but not required. 
  • Adhere to SAUSD, AUHSD, and/or FJUHSD policies and procedures in regards to contact with students and school personnel.

Schedule

  • Weekly schedule to be determined based on skills and program needs
  • Regular schedule will fall between 7:30a — 3:30p, Monday — Friday
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required 
  • Hours can be arranged around class schedule

College Mentor 

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct individualized and small group academic advising/mentoring sessions.
  • Guide and assist students throughout the process of completing college admission and financial aid applications. 
  • Design and implement systems to track educational progress through detailed documentation of students’ participation and academic performance.
  • Develop and implement outreach and publicity strategies to inform participants of upcoming EP activities and events. 
  • Assist with designing and facilitating presentations and workshops 
  • Assist in coordinating and supervising occasional Saturday/evening special events, campus tours, field trips and workshops.
  • Integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the student’s potential for academic progress.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Director and Site Coordinator(s) regarding the issues of referring students to other appropriate high school resources.
  • Represent Educational Partnership programs and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) during university and community events
  • Participate in school events to promote and support CFEP programs.
  • Attend staff meetings and staff development sessions (including various mandatory training sessions).
  • Adhere to SAUSD, AUHSD, and FJUHSD policies and procedures in regards to contact with students and school personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

  • Be a CSUF student in good academic standing with a minimum G.P.A. of 2.75 
  • Commit to a full school-year position
  • The ability to work with minimum supervision, both independently and with others 
  • Possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Be sensitive to students of diverse ethnic, racial, and economic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate sound decision making skills.
  • Have reliable transportation to/from assigned school site(s) and CSUF. 
  • Successfully clear fingerprinting and background check process.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Federal Work-Study preferred, but not required.

Schedule 

  • Work between 15—20 hours weekly.
  • Regular schedule will fall between 7:30a—3:30p, Monday—Friday.
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours required. 
  • Hours can be arranged around class schedule.

Office Assistant 

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform general clerical and receptionist responsibilities 
  • Assist in maintaining student database records and tracking systems 
  • Process and safeguard confidential student information 
  • Assist in reviewing accuracy and completeness of various documents received for processing 
  • Use Microsoft Office and Google Productivity Suites to draft and prepare mailings to participants, parents/guardians target schools, and community 
  • Represent Educational Partnerships and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) during university and community events 
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Program Assistant 
  • Attend staff meetings and staff development sessions (including various mandatory training sessions). 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications
