Many new professionals in student affairs begin their careers in
housing and residence life. Student affairs areas that often require
specific skills connected to housing and residence life are judicial
affairs and Greek life. The work in these areas is both challenging

“Student Affairs 101: Introduction to the Profession”

the profession of student affairs and student services. The changing
nature of higher education in our society, the changes in the types
of students seeking a college education, the development of diverse
institutions of higher education and theoretical evolution have

of this “march” through history, participants will gain
a complex understanding of contemporary student affairs practice.

"Sculpting Race: An Innovative Approach to Teaching
Racial Identity Development"

sculpture in order to teach the dynamics of Janet Helms’ Black
and White racial identity development models. The activity is highly
