California State University, Fullerton sponsors an exciting

program called the “Mathematics Intensive Summer Session”

(MISS).The purpose of this program is to assist college bound

young women to enhance their mathematics skills.

For the past 22 years CSUF has offered this program to

middle and high school female students; including many who

will be the first in their family to attend college. The immediate

goal of the program is to increase students’ abilities to learn

and use mathematical concepts thereby supporting their

achievement in high school college preparatory coursework.

The long-term goal of the program is to increase the population of

female students who choose careers in natural sciences and

mathematics. MISS is a four-week commuter program

beginning July 2 and ending July 27. Students will attend six hours of

mathematics classes daily, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to

3:00pm.

Meals, books, materials, and supplies are provided at

no cost to the student. Every student that completes the

program will receive a free graphing calculator.
