Cultivating Exceptional Leaders

Beginning in their freshman year, scholars are presented with opportunities to develop exceptional leadership skills.

A special University 100 course, designed for President’s Scholars, emphasizes leadership development. Throughout their college experience, scholars can participate in leadership training sessions and special retreats that focus on developing student talents and skills as future leaders.

Scholars are encouraged to pursue leadership roles throughout the university and are provided with campus and college-based leadership opportunities. They gain confidence and skills by developing their own personal leadership style and applying those skills in various settings, including honor societies, student government, community service projects, on-campus employment and event planning.

The student-run President’s Scholars Student Association also offers opportunities to serve in a leadership capacity on the program’s board, as well as a chance to develop cohesive team skills. Scholars meet regularly to plan service activities, social activities and special scholar events. The President’s Scholar’s Student Association also gives the students an opportunity to stay in touch on a regular basis, keep informed of networking opportunities, and get together to have fun and socialize.
