What is the Abrego Future Scholars Program?

• The Abrego Future Scholars Program provides financial, academic, and personal support to help first-generation and underrepresented students successfully transition to Cal State Fullerton.
• The program offers a welcoming community and a personalized network of faculty, staff, and peer mentors dedicated to helping students thrive during their first years of college and beyond.
• Abrego Future Scholars are recognized not only for their academic promise but also for their resilience, leadership, and commitment to service. Through a combination of structured programming and individualized guidance, students gain the tools to excel academically, grow personally, and make a meaningful impact on their campus and in their communities.

Abrego Future Scholars Eligibility

1. Open to high school seniors and transfer students entering CSUF as first-time students
2. First Generation College Student*
3. Significant record of community service
4. Minimum 3.0 GPA
5. *A first-generation college student is defined as someone whose parent(s) have not earned a four-year university degree in the United States.

Benefits

The Abrego Future Scholars Program offers a three-year scholarship and personalized support to help first-generation, underrepresented students develop leadership skills, find mentorship, and succeed in college and beyond. 

Abrego Future Scholars Scholarship Application Timeline

• Application Opens: April 15th, 2026
• Application Closes: June 15th, 2026
• Offers Released: Mid-Summer
