Center for Scholars Programs
The Center for Scholars serves six different student scholar populations including:
Abrego Future Scholars
Abrego Future Scholars is a community supported by the Center for Scholars, they receive two year scholarships and support services for historically under-represented first-generation college students. The Center aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.

Applications for Fall 2023 will open now and close March 2, 2023. The application is part of the Honors and Scholars Application available online in the student portal, search scholarships or click the link below to apply.
Support Services Provided
- Personalized academic and holistic coaching
- One year scholarship ($1500 for the academic year)
- Leadership & Professional Development
- Monthly Meetings
- Access to the resources of the Center for Scholars
- Activities and programming coordinated by Abrego Furure Scholars Students through the Abrego Future Scholars Student Association
(including service opporunities, leadership development, monthly meetings, and more).
Eligibility Requirements
- be a first-time freshman or first-time transfer student
- be a first generation college student, parent(s) have not earned a college degree
- high school applicants must have an weighted GPA of 3.0 or above
- transfer applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
- be prepared to enroll full-time (12 or more units)
Guardian Scholars
Guardian Scholars is a community supported by the Center for Scholars, they receive scholarships and student support services to eligible current and former foster youth. The Center aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.

Application is open year round. Incoming students are encouraged to apply after completing their CSU Apply application. Current students can apply at any time.

Foster Youth Program
The Guardian Scholars Foster Youth Program provides services from the Center for Scholars in collaboration with on-campus partners which include the following:
- Priority consideration to Year-Round On-Campus Housing
- Priority Course Registration
- Community Enrichment Activities
- Academic Coaching and Planning
- Student Study Spaces
- Computer Lab & Free Printing
- Educational support resources
- Activities and programming coordinated by Guardian Scholars Students through the Guardian Scholars Student Association
(including service opporunities, leadership development, monthly meetings, and more)
Eligibility Requirements
- Must have been in the foster care system
- Be a first-time freshman, transfer student, or current CSUF student.
Scholarship Program
A comprehensive scholarship award that covers unmet student need and is provided for up to five years. It has been established to provide financial stability for Guardian Scholars who seek opportunities for leadership, community engagement, and much more. This scholarship is added to a student's financial aid package and reduces need for student loans.
Scholarship Program
- Must have been in the foster care system on or after their 13th birthday
- Must be under the age of 26
- Be a first-time freshman, transfer student, or current CSUF undergraduate student
- High school & Transfer applicants must first complete CSU Apply. Then complete Honors & Scholars Application. Honors and Scholars Application should be completed before receiving CSUF Admission decision.
- CSUF applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above
My Future Pathways Scholars
A partnership with Orange Coast College (OCC) which aims to support first-generation college students who are transfering from OCC to Cal State Fullerton. Specialized programming has been established to support academic, career, and personal development.
Support Services Provided
- Personalized academic advising and coaching.
- Financial support that works in partnership with student's individual financial aid packages which includes a $4,000 annual scholarship.
- Support services and resources provided by the Center for Scholars
- Activities and programming coordinated by the Center for Scholars
Nicholas Academic Scholars
Nicholas Academic Scholars is a community supported by the Center for Scholars and in partnership with the Nicholas Academic Centers (NAC) based in Santa Ana. Students who are graduates of NAC must apply for scholarships from NAC. The Center aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.

President's Scholars
President's Scholars is a community supported by the Center for Scholars, they receive a tuition-based scholarship and support services for a duration of four years. The Center aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.

- Financial support that works in partnership with student's individual financial aid packages and includes: scholarship to pay for tuition, complimentary parking pass, and book stipend. Renewable for up to four years.
- Support services and resources provided by the Center for Scholars
- Activities and programming coordinated by the Center for Scholars
- Activities and programming coordinated by President's Scholars Students through the President's Scholars Student Association
(including service opporunities, leadership development, peer mentoring, monthly meetings).
Eligibility Requirements
- be a high school senior who has applied to CSUF for the following fall semester
- have a weighted GPA of 3.75 or above
- demonstrate significant contributions to school and community
Sun Scholars
Sun Scholars is a community supported by the Center for Scholars and in partnership with the Sun Family Foundation. The Foundation provides scholarships to selected students who participated for at least 3 years in the AVID programming in high school. The Center for Scholars aims to create leaders and role models by focusing on the core pillars of leadership, mentoring, community service, & academics. Specialized programming has been established to support the academic, career, and personal development of scholars.
