This is an individualized consultation aimed to provide accurate up-to-date nutritional information. The program provides fundamental nutrition education to assist with planning well-balanced meals and healthy snacking based on recommendations from MyPyramid.gov and the American Dietetic Association. It is an opportunity to learn about how to utilize the recommended daily caloric intake suggested for each individual and setting realistic nutritional and exercise goals. Individuals will be provided a guide for grocery shopping and healthier options while eating out on a budget. In promoting a healthy eating habit and staying physically active, students will benefit by being more energized and focused. According to the Center on Hunger, Poverty and Nutrition Policy (1995), “Good nutrition promotes not only better physical health and reduced susceptibility to disease, but has also been demonstrated to contribute to cognitive development and academic success.”

Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in college students, and is preventable. Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR) is a 90-minute training facilitated by a mental health professional and certified educator. Students and staff are often in excellent positions to prevent suicide by being able to refer someone who may need help. QPR is designed to empower bystanders to help someone who may be considering suicide. QPR consists of three important life-saving skills:
Question…a person about suicide,
Persuade…the person to get help,
Refer…the person to the appropriate resources
This training program is limited to 30 participants.
To schedule the QPR workshop, or learn more about suicide prevention programs on campus, please contact Darany Hoang, Health Educator, at (657) 278-7223 or dhoang@fullerton.edu.
