Policies & procedures

Councils, Chapters, and Students who are involved in the Fraternity and Sorority Life community and who are interested in becoming a member, hereafter referred as (participants), should comply with the following policies and procedures set forth by the University, The Office of Student Life and Leadership, and Fraternity and Sorority Life.
 
Participants should strive to follow and complete the management, trainings, and mandatory requirements outlined below.
 
RECRUITMENT/INTAKE PROCESSES

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

In order to join a fraternity or sorority at Cal State Fullerton, interested students must meet a 2.5 term GPA and 2.5 cumulative CSUF GPA. This requirement does not apply to first-time, regularly-enrolled students, or first semester transfer students. Please note, individual chapters may have higher academic requirements for membership.

Our vision is to emphasize the scholarship pillar and have the FSL community be the pinnacle of student involvement by excelling in their academic endeavors. CSUF Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) values and respects the academic excellence of our students with an emphasis to excel in the classroom. It is the expectation that each chapter surpasses the all university GPA average and promotes academic success. 
 
NEW MEMBER PROCESSES
In order to continue the academic mission of the University and Student Affairs’ purpose of providing the best education and equipping students with the knowledge and skills required for success, Student Life and Leadership/Fraternity and Sorority Life requires new member processes of recognized organizations to not extend beyond the second to last week of each academic semester. Additionally, the process to complete membership must not be longer than 10 weeks. The 10 week maximum does not include breaks as there should be no new member process requirements during breaks from school. 
 

ROSTERS

  • Chapter Presidents must turn in membership rosters to the Student Life & Leadership Office/Fraternity & Sorority Life via email, no later than one (1) week after the start of every semester, Fall and Spring. Presidents must then re-submit rosters for all membership (associate and active) three (3) weeks prior to the end of each semester. 
  • Chapter Presidents and/or designees assigned administrative rights on TitanLink, must update membership on roster using the same timeline listed above.

TRAININGS

In order to remain compliant with CSU Chancellor mandates, Student Life & Leadership along with Fraternity & Sorority Life chapters must complete all of the following requirements:
 

NuMu: New Member Education

  • Chapter must have 100% of their new membership of every semester attend New Member Education. This includes all individuals going through or participating in any new member process. Requirement must be met every academic year by the incoming Fall and Spring recruitment/intake classes no later than February of the same academic year. 

Title IX Online Training

  • Chapter must have a minimum of 100% of total membership, this includes new and active members,   complete the online Title IX training assigned by the Title IX office no later than 3 weeks before the spring semester ends. Conducted on a yearly academic year basis .

Online Alcohol Training

  • Chapter must have a minimum of 100% of total membership, this includes new and active members, complete the online eCHECKUP TO GO training assigned by the Student Wellness. This must be done prior to each chapters individual chapters in-person meeting with Student Wellness

 

National Headquarters or National Offices’ training on these topics will not serve as substitutions to the above requirements.

Chapters who do not meet the requirements stated above will be subjected to limited participation in university sanctioned events which include but are not limited to: DiscoverFest, Pursuit of Excellence, Greek Week, Battle of the Greeks, and Tuffy Awards.
