Academic Advising
ETS scholars receive advising and mentoring from current CSUF students individually and in group settings. Academic Coordinators and Student Advisors develop a College Success Plan to equip scholars with tools to best prepare them to meet college entrance requirements.
Academic Workshops
ETS provides workshops for scholars across high school grade levels to increase student awareness of postsecondary options, requirements, and financial aid options. Workshops are carried out throughout the academic year during lunch, after school, on Saturdays, and around other school events.
College & Career Exploration
Through a variety of strategies, ETS provides the opportunity for scholars to learn about a vast array of college options and potential majors that may become possible careers after completing their bachelors degree. It is ETS' goal to provide scholars with necessary tools to succeed in their endeavors after high school graduation.
Community Service
ETS offers scholars opportunities to engage in community service within their local communities. Scholars are also introduced to organizations and nonprofits throughout Orange County that cater to diverse populations, enhancing their educational and enrichment experiences.
Financial Aid Applicaton Assistance
The six high schools CSUF's Educational Talent Search serves each have a dedicated Senior Advisor who provides individual and group support to current seniors in their college application and financial aid application processes. Workshops are also held throughout the academic year to equip scholars with financial literacy and confidence.
Scholarship Information
One of the key benefits of participating in ETS is access to scholarship information and assistance. ETS Advisors and Coordinators help students navigate the complex landscape of scholarships, grants, and financial aid opportunities available to them. They provide guidance on application procedures, deadlines, and eligibility criteria for various scholarships that align with the students' academic and career goals.
Educational Field Trips & College Tours
Scholars have the opportunity to participate in college visits both locally in the Southern California region and other regions during Spring Break. The campuses chosen are based on scholar interest, ensuring involvement and relevancy to students. In addition, students have opportunities to take part in exciting field trips that revolve around STEM initiatives and cultural activities. STEM and career exploration field trips ETS has hosted include experiences at iFLY Indoor Skydiving, Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, Aquarium of the Pacific, and many more!
Summer Programs
Once the academic year is over, ETS continues to provide educational opportunities for scholars! Summer programs include, but are not limited to, college campus tours, career exploration field trips, STEM programming, and preparation for the upcoming academic year. ETS works to support scholars and their goals throughout the entire year.
Mentoring
Through one-on-one interactions and group activities, mentors empower ETS scholars to set and achieve their educational goals while providing valuable insights and encouragement along the way.
Medal Ceremony
At the end of each school year, ETS hosts a Medal Ceremony to honor graduating seniors and their families. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognize achievements, hard work, and dedication. All graduating seniors actively admitted in ETS are invited to participate in the ceremony, regardless of the academic year they joined the program. It is an exciting time to join together and celebrate as our scholars embark on the next step of their journeys!
