Eileen Walsh, Ph.D.
Associate Vice President, Academic Programs
As associate vice president for Academic Programs, Dr. Eileen Walsh facilitates the planning and coordination of academic curriculum and programs for undergraduate education and general education, graduate education and the Faculty Development Center.
A Titan since 2006, Walsh has served as professsor, graduate advisor and chair in the Department of Sociology. She developed five new courses and initiated the implementation of the Transfer Student Learning Community while serving on several standing committees of the Academic Senate, where she has been elected to the Executive Committee seven times and served as chair. In 2019, Walsh received the university's Leadership Award for being an extraordinary role model and leader in the College of Humanitiesand Social Sciences.
Passionate about the transformative power of learning, Walsh is committed to developing programs that improve the student college experience. Before her time in higher education, Walsh had a 20-year career in the County of Orange. She served on several boards of community organizations and as an elected member of the Governing Boards of Laguna Beach Unified School District and the Capistrano-Laguna Regional Occupation Program.
Walsh holds an A.B., master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
