The National Survey for Student Engagement (NSSE) results reveal increase in student engagement with DEI-related experiences.

 

Quick NSSE facts

NSSE collects information each year about student perceptions regarding specific experiences and interactions that students are typically engaged with on campus.

Based on the 2022 NSSE results:

  • 95% of Freshmen and 93% of Seniors shared CSUF demonstrates a commitment to diversity.*

  • The percent of students that shared they discuss issues of equity or privilege in their courses “quite a bit” or “very much” has increased since 2018.

    • In 2018, the percentage of Freshmen was 57%. In 2022, the percentage of freshman was 62%. Overall, Freshman increased by 5 percentage points.

    • In 2018, the percentage of Seniors was 55%. In 2022, the percentage of Seniors was 61%. Overall, Seniors increased by 6 percentage points.

  • 95% of Freshmen and 93% of Seniors shared CSUF provides students with resources needed for success in a multicultural world.*

*respondents indicated either “some”, “quite a bit”, and “very much” to the applicable survey questions.
