Accessible Furniture Accommodations

DSS collaborates with Facilities Management to arrange for accessible furniture, including adjustable tables and chairs, to be placed in classrooms without accessible seating.

Accessible classroom furniture or reserved seating (e.g., front of the classroom or close to an exit) will only be provided to eligible students who are registered with DSS. If eligible for accessible furniture accommodations, it is the student’s responsibility to submit a Furniture Request Form to the DSS at least 3 weeks before the beginning of each term (Fall, Intersession, Spring, Summer).

  • Any furniture requests made after the start of the semester can take  7 to 10 business days for the accessible furniture to be placed in the classroom.

Faculty members are asked to return chairs, tables and other equipment to their original locations at the end of class, if moved during their class. All accessible furniture is property of DSS and will be labeled as such.

DSS and Facilities Management collaborate throughout the year to place accessible furniture in classrooms for students with disabilities, collect furniture at the end of each semester, and maintain inventory for future furniture requests. DSS furniture that is placed by Facilities Management for students with disabilities should not be removed from the classroom.

If you have any questions regarding furniture requests, please contact Dawnesha Cottrell at dainsworth@fullerton.edu.
