This chart shows the overlap in units between the Bachelor’s Degree and the Master’s Degree for blended programs. In Year 1 and Year 2 of their Bachelor’s Degree, students are expected to complete 30 undergraduate units in each of these years. Students may apply to the blended program in the summer before they start their Year 3 in their Bachelor’s program, or in the summer after they complete their Year 3 in their Bachelor’s program. In Year 4, students are expected to complete 30 undergraduate units, 12 of which to double-count in their graduate program. At the end of Year 4, students transition from undergraduate status to graduate status. In Year 5, students complete 18 graduate units.

Why Choose a Blended Program?

  • Earn two degrees in one connected pathway
  • Save time by applying up to 12 units toward both degrees
  • Start graduate-level coursework as an undergraduate
  • Plan ahead with a clear pathway from your bachelor’s to your master’s
  • Continue your CSUF journey into graduate study

How It Works

You begin in your undergraduate program and, once eligible, transition into the blended program. You’ll complete designated graduate-level courses while finishing your bachelor’s degree, then transition to graduate status to complete your master’s degree.

Additional Information

A student enrolled in a blended program is considered an undergraduate until the student has completed the minimum number of units required for the bachelor’s degree in a blended pathway. Upon completion of those requirements, the student’s degree objective shall be changed to graduate and will be required to pay graduate student fees – even if bachelor’s degree requirements have not been completed.

Transitioning to graduate standing may also impact your financial aid status. Contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information.

Read about these new programs in the CSUF news.
