WHY CHOOSE CSUF Military Science

You should choose ROTC – a summer, two-year or four-year course – if you're interested in becoming an Army officer and want to develop critical leadership and management skills.

What is CSUF’s Military Science Program?

The ROTC program is divided into phases: The basic course studies Army history, organization and structure. The techniques and principles of leadership and management are stressed throughout. The advanced course concentrates on tactical operations and military instruction, as well as advanced techniques of management, leadership and command.

Enrollment into the basic course (freshman and sophomore students) does not require ROTC contractual obligation. As a part of the advanced course, contracted Cadets participate in the Leadership Laboratory, which includes the basic course and intensive training in patrolling, battle drills, troop leadership, operations, command and staff functions, battle analysis and the law of war.

Partnership schools include UC Irvine, Biola University, Chapman University, Vanguard University, Whittier College and Orange County community colleges.

CAREER PATH

Upon completing the advanced course, advance camp, graduation and meeting all ROTC program requirements, Cadets commission as a Second Lieutenant and start their military service on Active Duty, Army Reserve or Army National Guard.
