Winter Recess 2025

The holidays are almost here at Cal State Fullerton. Whether you’re traveling home or staying with us through the break, here’s the essential Winter Recess information you’ll need.

 

Residence Halls

As outlined in the 2025-2026 Student Housing License Agreement, all Residence Hall residents are required to vacate their spaces by Friday, December 19, 2025, at 8 p.m.

 

  • Building access: Titan Dining Hall and the Residence Hall buildings will be closed starting Friday, December 19, 2025, at 8 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 9 a.m.
  • Once access is turned off, you will not be able to re-enter your space unless there is a verified medical need.
  • You may leave all your belongings in your room over the Winter Recess; however, please be sure to take everything you will need during the closure period, such as passport/ID, clothing, chargers, medications, and personal essentials.

If you have questions or concerns about leaving for winter break by 8 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, please contact your Community Coordinator by Monday, December 15, 2025, at 5 p.m:

 

Please note: The Housing License Agreement for 2025-2026 covers the entire academic year, from Move-in on August 21, 2025, to Move-out on May 15, 2026.

Suites and Apartments

The following information applies to all residents in the Suites and Apartments.

  • Winter Break dates: Friday, December 19, 2025, to Thursday, January 15, 2026. Dining Hall and Housing Office hours will be reduced or closed during this time.
  • If you will be staying in your suite or apartment after 8 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, please submit the Winter Stay Notification Form by Monday, December 15, 2025, at 5 p.m. This form helps our team know who will be here during winter break and plan for notifications or emergencies.
  • If your plans change during the winter recess, please resubmit the form so we have the most up-to-date information.

The Housing License Agreement for 2025-2026 covers the full academic year, from Move-in on August 21, 2025, to Move-out on May 15, 2026.

Community Announcements


24-Hour Quiet Hours

  • Start: Friday, December 12, 2025, at 5 p.m.
  • 24-hour quiet hours remain in effect through the final exam period.

 

Titan Dining Hall Glassware and Silverware

If you have any glassware or silverware from Titan Dining Hall, please return items to the crates placed outside of the Community Market and Titan Dining Hall by Friday, December 19.

 

Health and Safety Inspections

Health and Safety Inspections will occur on Friday, December 19.

  • Community Coordinators and RAs will conduct inspections between 8 a.m. and 11:59 p.m.
  • You are not required to be present during this time.
  • For more information, please attend your floor meeting and review the Health and Safety Inspection email.

 

Planned Power Outage

Our community will be experiencing a planner power outage on Friday, December 26. More details will be shared as the date approaches. All electronics need to be unplugged in preparation for the power outage. All refrigerators must be defrosted, emptied, and cleaned out at least 1 week before residents depart for winter recess in preparation for the power outage. Please see the attached flyer for tips on how to defrost your fridge.

Fire Marshal Inspections

The State Fire Marshal (SFM) will be conducting their annual inspections on January 2 through January 14 and will be entering all spaces in the student housing community to inspect the fire alarm devices and general fire safety conditions. A reminder notification regarding these inspections will be sent in the new year.

 

Bike Storage

We encourage you to take your bicycles and scooters home. If you are unable to take them home, please ensure they are properly locked up in our designated storage areas.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

Students can access a wide range of mental health support through CAPS. Visit their website for more information.

 

CAPS can be reached 24/7 at (657) 278-3040.

Safety Awareness

Community Safety Officers (CSOs) will be conducting rounds in and around the Residence Halls from December 19, 2025, to January 12, 2026. Their presence is part of our routine safety operations during recess periods.

Cal State Fullerton Police Department (CSUFPD)

For personal safety on campus and in the residential areas, please keep CSUFPD’s contact information readily available. If you observe suspicious activity or unfamiliar individuals in the community, contact CSUFPD immediately.
