Cal State Fullerton’s degree in ethnic studies with a concentration in African American studies helps students understand and contextualize the historical, social, political and cultural experiences of Black people in the United States and abroad.

In our Institute of Black Intellectual Innovation, students collaborate with faculty experts and conduct research that advances the support and inclusion of Black people, culture, arts and history. Student researchers receive mentorship, publish their findings in academic journals and partner with community members to foster cultural competency.

CAREER PATH

A bachelor’s degree in ethnic studies with a concentration in African American studies equips students with invaluable research, critical thinking, communication and public speaking skills that they can carry into different fields.
