What is Virtual Private Network?

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a secure communication technology that allows users to connect to a private network (like CSUF’s campus network) over the public internet.

It works by creating an encrypted tunnel between your device and the university’s internal systems, ensuring that your data is protected from unauthorized access, especially when using unsecured networks like public Wi-Fi.

As an added layer of protection, Duo MFA has been integrated with GlobalProtect VPN. With Duo MFA, users are asked to authenticate with a second factor (such as a mobile device or physical token) in order to access campus resources remotely.

To help keep CSUF users and data safe, the campus utilizes GlobalProtect VPN.

What is GlobalProtect?

GlobalProtect is the service that allows you to install a software application on your remote system that will get you connected to the Campus resources while you are physically off Campus. When using GlobalProtect you can remote to your workstation and work just as if you were sitting in your office on Campus.
