What is ChatGPT Edu?

OpenAI's ChatGPT Edu Agreement is tailored specifically for the California State University (CSU) system, providing advanced AI capabilities for all employees and students. It offers the ability to build custom GPTs for sharing within campus workspaces, as well as the needed privacy and data protection, and other enterprise security such as single sign-on (SSO).

Using ChatGPT Edu

Eligibility

You must be a currently enrolled student or an active faculty/staff member to sign-up for ChatGPT Edu. 

Opt-In to ChatGPT Edu

 

Get Started

Step 1

Submit a request to Opt-In to ChatGPT Edu. You will receive an email confirming your request.

Step 2

Wait 30 minutes to an hour for your account to be provisioned.  You will receive an email from OpenAI.

Step 3

Click on the Join workspace link in the email you received from OpenAI to accept your invitation.  Login to ChatGPT Edu using your CSUF email and password

Ethical & Responsible Use

The CSU encourages students and faculty to explore AI thoughtfully, balancing its benefits with its risks.  While AI tools like ChatGPT can enhance learning and research, they must be used responsibly.

Students or Faculty interactions with ChatGPT.edu are treated with the same level of care and confidentiality as other commonly used electronic platforms, such as email, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office 365.
