Telecom provides an array of telecommunication services to the campus community. The team manages the campus telephone and voicemail systems, infrastructure cabling, and campus issued mobile devices.

Zoom Phone Upgrade

The Campus has moved most desktop phones to the Zoom Phone and removed the physical phone. Our Zoom Phone Information page can help answer your questions.

What does Telecommunications do?

The team is also responsible for all telecommunication installations and repairs, chargebacks, calling cards, telecom related training classes, campus operators, and the campus telephone directory.  Telecommunications offers an array of services and support for campus issued cell phones. As an additional service we also offer access to discounts for our campus employees pertaining to their personal cell phone plans.

Reporting an Issue

If your phone is dead or you are experiencing problems with your phone, use another campus phone and dial 4357 (HELP) and leave a message.

In your message, include the following information:

  • Name
  • Department
  • Contact Extension
  • Problem Extension
  • Phone type
    • Poly Zoom Phone
    • Zoom Softphone App
    • Classroom phone
    • Analog / Fax
  • Location of problem
  • Do you have dial tone?
  • Description of problem

Repairs received before 2:00 p.m. will be handled the same business day.

Campus Upgrade Policy

Information Technology will only support current Apple phone devices, and 2 generations back. If you are currently on a device that does not fall within the specific guidelines, we encourage you to contact your Department IT Coordinator (DITC) to request an upgrade.

Cell Phone Upgrades

CSUF Employee discount with cell phone companies

Did you know you can get discounts from the major cell phone companies just because you work for CSUF? You do not need to be a new customer; you can have these discounts applied to your current cell phone plan. Discounts range from 15-25% depending on carrier.

Voiceover IP (VoIP) & Zoom Phones

Campus recently upgraded all phone systems to Zoom Phone and support Zoom Deskphone and Softphone.

The Zoom Phone is an addition to the advanced unified communication platform that the campus has already adopted for video conferencing.  With the implementation of Zoom Phone, your laptop and headset combined will become the new standard as your campus telephone.
