Two Factor Authentication (2FA / DUO)

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) confirms your identity by requiring two pieces of information. Our Two-Factor Authentication solution is a cloud-based software service named Duo Security, which requires something you know and something you have.

Two-Factor Authentication will be required when accessing campus resources that require Portal and Microsoft log-in .

Why do I need a second authenticator?

This makes it harder for someone to access your information. Authentication will prompt to approve before granting access.

If someone knows your password they still need to be approved, and you'll be notified when they attempt to log in without you knowing.

On top of changing your password regularly this will protect you against unauthorized access to information.

Apps using Microsoft Login

To expand the use of DUO security, other applications that use the Microsoft login page will also be required to use DUO.

Which Apps are affected?

  • Outlook (PC, Mac, iOS, Android)
  • Microsoft Office desktop, mobile, and online apps (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, MS Teams)
  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Splashtop
  • Other Web Apps (e.g., Adobe.com, Adobe Sign, and Smartsheet)
